Xeljanz for alopecia

Some doctors are now prescribing Xeljanz (Tofacitinib) for Alopecia, with great results. Problem is it's cost. It can run upwards of $2k per month or $24k per year, and most insurance plans won't cover it because its not yet a recognized treatment for Alopecia. But the more people who try it and get results, the more likely the medical community will recognize it as a legitimate treatment and insurance companies may start covering the cost. I urge everyone to discuss with their…

Pregnant and stopped taking Xeljanz (for AU) - help!

Hello!

I have Alopecia Universalis and had been taking Xeljanz consistently for about 3 years. Once totally bald, with Xeljanz, ALL of my hair returned. It was a miracle!

4 months ago, I got pregnant, and stopped taking Xeljanz. About 3 months in, my hair started to fall out (seemingly overnight!). As someone who has been down this difficult road before, it is quite terrifying. :(

Post-pregnancy, once I return to Xeljanz, I am hoping and praying…

Xeljanz XR

Today is my first day to try Xeljanz XR. I will try and blog about my experiences to hopefully help others. About me, I'm mid 30's married with a young child. Lost my hair all over (Universalis) twice in my lifetime, this being the second. The first was when I was 11 years old. Miraculously it all grew back after 3 years of no hair except my arms and most of my legs which I did not complain about one bit. I was pretty much alopecia free for over 20 years and NEVER thought it would happen…

Finally!

I have been on Xeljanz for 2 1/2 months 5 mg 2X daily and just last week I got about 7 white, baby fine "vellus" hairs right on top of my head and many, many of the same hairs on my face !! Like forehead, cheeks, etc. I never had hair on my face before just above my upper lip that I would pluck. Thankfully, it is light. There are no other hairs anywhere else right now but I am hoping for more. I just wonder if "vellus" hair always means you will get "terminal" hair with pigmentation? ..

Trial Xeljanz

Hey everyone! My name is Christos Kyrgios from Australia - just a quick post to let you know I am doing a clinical trial of the JAK inhibitor Xeljanz now. My friend did it, he has universalis like me and he got all his hair back after 2-3 months of being on the medication.

I am documenting + doing this trial to raise awareness and to test the viability of the medication. Exposure on this type of thing if successful will hopefully get the medication on approved government funding…

Starting Xeljanz

Hey everyone, So I was diagnosed AA on Nov, 2015. i have seen many doctors in the city and none of them have actually helped me. After a long wait, I am being treated by Dr. Brett King from Yale University. On July 8th, i had my first appointment. He wanted me to start taking Xeljanz but i refused to the idea of being exposed to Cancer and other side effects. So he gave me 3 pulses of prednisone of 350 mg that i took 1 day only and it would be good for the whole month.

At the…

Xeljanz (tofacitinib) Where to buy in Mexico?

I wanted to make a post about this because I found a post here where one person found this product in Mexico and it had TONS of responses in the comment section asking on how to get it. Ive personally messaged the gal who said she bought it in Mexico and it seems shes not responding even though shes added me as a friend here.

I dont want to explain the whole low down on all the scientific findings of Xeljanz, but in short some people have found it to help regrow hair in cases of…

Different Medication

I've had Alopecia Universalis for about 3 years now. My dermatologist had started to give me shots in my head, which I very shortly cut out of my visits with him due to the pain it gave me. He gave me methotrexate to see if that would help my immune system get more on track but as anyone with alopecia knows, it seems to be that we are all test rats for whatever meds to take. I also researched this more intense drug called Xeljanz. It was tested on a patient at Yale University who had…

Squaric Acid (SADBE) treatment

In past couple of years, I have gotten few dime and quarter size bald spots around my head.  These got little bit bigger and bigger.  By coincidence or by stress induced, late last year, after my father's passing, I've lost 90% of my hair in weeks.  I've treated with routine steroid shots; but the hair loss continued until pretty much "pure" bald.

After one of the visits with my local dermatologist, she suggested to visit a doctor at Johns Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore.  So…

Regrowth ... again

So I have more growth than I have had since I lost the last of my hair spring of 2012. Still patchy but more coverage than before. I also have eyebrows and eyelashes that are long enough to wear mascera.

In addition to Alopecia Universalis I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and Autoimmune thyroiditis. The RA was diagnosed 13 years ago. Dec 2016 my Rheumatologist and I finally called it quits on Remicaid. I had been on that for about 10 years when it started to fail. In Feb 2017 I started… Continue

Paranoid of trusting my hair won't fall out again

I am 37 and have had alopecia since i was 16. For the most part, I have been lucky. Id only have a quarter size patch underneath u couldnt see...until 3 years ago when i had breast reduction surgery for which i was anesthetized. I know there is a connection to this, but not my main focus here. In the last several months i have been sticking to a strict vitamin regimen. I believe the MSM portion has helped me grow much of my hair back. I have been on the fence waiting for Xeljanz or…

Is there still hope?

I am fairly new to this website, but i have decided to try to reach out and answer some questions. I have had AA for 4 or five years. Started out very minimal and after some steroid injections from my dermatologist, it grew back fairly quickly. I had a few spots come and go and received steroid injections every month for about 6 months. It was all good ( only about one small spot) until i started my second year…
