I think I'm going to take the plunge at my next hair appointment later this month. I'll take a photo and send it to you. I'm just so sick of the hair shedding and trying for volume that's not there, a short, low maintenance cut is seeming like the best option. Must go prepare for Hurricane Ike. I'm far too close for comfort!!

Hi Laurie,
My hairdresser cuts my hair with the thinning shears....this gives you alot of texture. I also maintain a dark dye color in my hair; this makes my hair feel thicker and healthy. The front (bangs), are a little bit longer so I can cover my spot. I also use a dark eye pencil to color in my spot to blend with my hair color. I use RUSK "Wired" in my hair before blowdrying and my finishing touch is styling wax to make my hair spiky. This may sound like alot of work, but it only takes me 10 mins in the morning. Best part is, no one can tell what my hair is really like!!!! I get alot of compliments on my hairstyle, even strangers come up to me and ask me who does my hair!!! they all say they would like to be able to have a style like mine!!! I just laugh to myself and say they should.
Also, take folic acid and zinc suppliments, they are really good for your hair.
Take care,
Shana
From your picture, I love your haircut. I read a comment you made to Julie and discovered you actually have a 1-inch spot at the front. I wanted to ask more about how your hair is cut? I have either chronic telogen effluvium or female pattern loss and have lost a lot of hair density. I only have 'visible' spots at my temples and where bangs would be (I don't have short bangs though). I REALLY want to be free of this cycle: shedding, short spikey hairs from regrowth but I cannot make this stop. The only thing at this point that feels like might make me feel better is a short haircut, something like yours. When I saw your photo, I thought, that's it! And even better for me is that you are disguising a bald spot where I am thinning so hopefully something similar might work for me. Anyways, anything you can tell me that I might relay to my hairdresser will really help! THANKS!
Hi Shana!
I've had the infernal thing even longer than you (over 30 years)! I have learned so much about it and have such interesting an helpful stories to tell, that I wrote a book, "If Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing!". It's brand new and you can get an advance copy now. Go to my page and there's a web site link to my author page, where you can read about the book and order it if you want. Or cut and past this: www.leslieannbutler.npauthors.com
Take care, LeslieAnn
