Do you think it is easier to get a job if you wear a wig to an interview? (Bald vs. Wig)

Hi Everybody!!!,I was just wondering if there's anyone in the Hotel and Tourism / Hospitality Management field with AU and with some much needed advise. I've been bald a very long time now , finally at the age of 26 I am at a point where I do not feel like wearing hair but I'm scared that I will not be able to be hired because I may be viewed as sick or strange looking. Anyone else with experiences in the work force or some advice for me??See More

Hi Everybody!!!,

To wig or not to wig?

Posted on February 20, 2011 at 2:30pm 2 Comments

Lately I've been finding myself less and less wanting to wear my wig, hat's, and bandannas but I am having trouble going out in public without them. I can't help but feeling like people are going to be mean to me. I have gone out in public a few times with nothing on my head however I still have this uncontrollable anxiety about doing this regularly as I want to do. I'm wondering if anyone else had anxiety or reservations about going out in public being bald and if so what you did to overcome… Continue

For those of you who do not know me,I have 2 beautiful boys,Mason who is my oldest at the age of 21 months, and Porter who is my youngest at 6 weeks. This blog is about my oldest,Mason.

I was told that alopecia was not hereditary , and I had hoped for boys it wasn't.I noticed a spot on the back of Mason's head about 5 months ago.It was smooth and round, about the size of a toonie.I was sure right away.I showed it to my fiance right away.He told me it was nothing, that it was just probably just… Continue

A step backwards...

Posted on September 9, 2008 at 12:30pm 13 Comments

The last few months I haven't been able to come on to Alopecia World and I have to be totally honest but I have taken some recent blows in my self esteem which I find strange for I'm not one to let my appearance get to me I know I don't look like most people in the outside world but at the same time I always thought that when people got past the initial shock of me being bald that they saw what I felt a very attractive woman.

I guess it started when my fiance's sister came to stay with… Continue

To cure or not to cure?

Posted on April 16, 2008 at 8:52pm 10 Comments

I keep seeing all of these adds to cure alopecia or baldness and it got me to thinking about if there was a legit cure and I could have all of my air back if I would be able to do it.I always had to tell myself that there was nothing wrong with being bald and being bald just adds some new flavours to the world but if a cure came and I took it would it be saying that I do think there is something wrong with being bald and if I took it.This left me feeling very conflicted.I started thinking about… Continue

Hi Sarah- I had to look at your page because there was a girl in my elementary school with the same name, but you're not her :-) Anyway, what a beautiful little boy you have! Also, I know you've been AU for a lot of your life, but you give me hope that all guys don't just ignore girls with this condition. I have something else going on nobody can figure out, but don't go out without a hat on now... and obsess over what I used to have. I'm 28 and used to have such thick hair until a year and a half ago, and now my scalp burns and I have miniture patchy hair loss. Anyway, I'm glad you have someone who supports you and probably doesn't give a hoot about you being bald. I just want to give up on dating because of my own insecurities, and am always curious how women who are bald make it work. Hope you're well, and glad you're here. -Sarah

Hi, I'm Santi, I'm new here and I have alopecia universalis since I was 3. I never had the chance to contact with other people like me and I would be very interested to share esperiences and stories with other members of this comunity, cause I think that helps a lot, so if you'd like to I'd be glad to chat with you or mail you anytime you wish. I'm just looking for friendship, cause I care about the stories and the people. That goes for everyone who reads this post too.
Hope to know from you very soon :) S.
