About Me:
Hello. My name is Monica and I was born and raised in beautiful Los Angeles. I have three girls, one of my girls (Rebecca Renae) was diagnosed with Alopecia at the age of 2. At the beginning ReRe lost her eyelashes and one eyebrow and some hair line. It regrew. The following year (age 3)she lost about 80% of her hair and bottom lashes, and again it regrew. When she turned 4 yrs. old she went Alopecia Universalis. She had no hair at all (no facial or body --only a little tiny bitty "chunk" on her head) I have many pictures of her at this stage but unfortunately I do not have a scanner) As of today, January 2011 (6 y/o) her eyelashes are back, head hair, body hair, fuzzy hairs in her ears, nose, and we're just waiting for her to grow in all of her eyebrows. (this is the first time in her life she has body hair-it's been about 8 months now and still coming).
She was seen by at least 8 or 9 dermatologist and almost all of them gave us no hope. I am telling you this because I was always looking for someone who had no hair, like my boo, and then did. I couldn't find someone.
I began to attend a Christian church (Christian Mission Alliance) where I heard positive things about healing, total contrary to what we were being told by the doctors. At my church, we are not thought "religious" ways of living, rather how to have a personal relationship with Jesus our Lord and savior. I know Jesus healed my baby. What I went through, was so painful and heart breaking. I wanted my daughter healed and I told the Lord that I wanted to know Him and truly love Him. It's easy to type this and that but my story can go on and on.
Please, don't ever give up. He never gives up on us. There is not one single day or half a day for that matter, that goes by and I don't think about Alopecia.
I will continue to lift up this condition and pray that the Lord will help us find a cure for it. As her mother, this changed my life. I am a believer of Jesus Christ and His glorious power. Hebrews 11 "It is impossible to please Him without faith." Like my pastor said, "God is not a tree trimmer. He'll take all of it with the roots."
I am sharing a piece of my testimony to encourage you. I didn't grow up in a Christian home but thank God I had heard about Him, Jesus Christ. Please, feel free to send me a message. I love you. I mean it.
Just a last note, for the last 2 yrs. she's being seen at UCLA.
Do you have alopecia?
Parent or guardian of child with alopecia
Are you age 18 or older?
No - I am not 18 or older

Hi Monica, just got a message through here from you...not sure if it is old...saying you haven't heard from me since the quake here ... funny cause I thought we had been emailing, and I mentioned my cards... have pics of them now, and will email you soon. Not very well at present, got really bad asthma, boarding hospital, meant to be bed rest, but it is very hard to do that...and boring! Chat to you soon :) Amanda

Hello Monica, thanks for wanting to be my friend, I sit here in tears right now, reading your blurb you wrote about yourself, I really needed that today - to hear that Jesus will heal our children! I am a Christian too, but the last week or so I have been very down and struggling. So it was a nice reminder. My daughter Mikayla 15yrs old, was diagnosed last March 2010 with AA then at Christmas she was diagnosed AU. In a matter of weeks she has lost 98% of her hair, loosing eye brows,
and really struggling, as I am. I am trying to get her to take what is left off so we can get a freedom wig for her, she doesn't want to go with nothing, and wears one of several slouch beanies 24 seven. We are looking at attaching hair to the hats, so she will look like she has something while waiting for her freedom wig. She doesn't like being seen with nothing, and won't let anyone see unless it is me, or the wig lady... love the pics you have put on ....have to go and sort out dinner. Blessings Amanda
