- I'm 26 years old and have had alopecia universalis since I was 15. I am quite comfortable with it all now, and love helping others feel better about their alopecia too. I have a 6 year old son who is the best thing that every happened to me :) I'm vegetarian on the verge of vegan, I love animals and all living beings.

Lately I have been trying to decide what in the world I want to do with my life. I tend to change my mind every few minutes haha.
I have a hairdressing background and think I am going to start selling wigs, it makes sense really, and I already do nails so I could just do it along with that I suppose.. I however don't have my full hairdressing license so I can't technically style them, with the way our laws are here.. silly I know..

So it is Thanksgiving in Canada today (I do live here ha). And so I am sharing some things I am thankful for:
-My son, he is the most amazing person I know
-All of my family, they are great people
-The roof over our head, the food we eat
-My fiance, he is so understanding and I am thankful

Tonight I was sitting here, reading some other posts by people, talking about differnt treatments, talking about bits of hair sprouting back, talking about possibilities. And for me it is never like that, I truly don't expect my hair to ever grow back. I guess after 10 yeas I just can't see it happening. I've become so accustomed to it that I don't even think about that part. I rarely even think about the part where i don't have hair to start with.

Hi, if you have read my other two blogs you know I am pretty good with my AU, that I actually in some ways like it at this point. Here are some reasons why
1. I am stronger- this is kinda obvious, we are all stronger because of this, we go through a life changing thing really, especially in our culture where looks are so important, where hair is a billion dollar industry, we are thrown into this and we must deal, we must be ok, and we are. it is only hair. Finding out I had Alopecia- 2000

I noticed I was losing more and more hair in June of 2000, at age 15. We had no idea what it was, I had read about Alopecia once in a magazine, but it sounded like a nightmare, I loved my hair. I relied on it really. And then it didn't stop coming out, clump after clump, it came from all over, no patches, and rapidly fell out. By July it was pretty Bad, August almost gone. Just so thin all over.

There are so many other unfortunate situations out there in this world. And you pointed out that we all sometimes look for new hair growth, etc, and really I feel tired of doing it. I'm so tired of doctors and their nonsense, tired of spending my hard-earned money on numerous supplements, etc. and worrying about this. This site, and people like you are encouraging for me to get on with my life and quit worring, accept what is happening, and move on. Whoever can't accept this, or the 'new me' when I shave off the rest will be missing out. ha! Thank you again. also, I think you're quite lovely in all your wigs and bald too, and your tattoos!
