- I am a single mother of one college-aged daughter. I've been recently diagnosed with Scarring Alopecia. Although it was a hard pill to swallow, I think I was prepared for the diagnosis. I have several female family members with the same issue, including my mother. I noticed a lot of burning and itching in the crown area of my scalp in my mid 20s but it was not until my mid 30s that I noticed a really big change. I went natural in 2009 and have resorted to wearing wigs recently. I've fallen in love with wigs as I am not at all comfortable wearing a bald head out in public yet.
