it's been a while...and another derm update!

I've been a little less active than I'd like lately on AW, but work has me crazy right now... they shipped me to Indiana for some GM testing a few weeks ago, then transferred me to a new store, so I had to move... I'm in my new place now, not quite unpacked, but wanted to drop a line to my AW friends while I can...I went back to the derm today... on a good note, the biggest spot is significantly smaller now, and a few of my smaller spots are gone! About Me:
I noticed a small bald spot a few months ago, and tried to forget about it... Meanwhile it grew and grew, and more spots appeared, so I broke down and went to the doctor. She said alopecia areata, and started the steroid shots treatment for the large spot, topical steroid for the smaller ones. The hair is still coming out pretty fast, but I do understand it can take quite a while for the cycle to work it's way through... so I found this site, and hope to meet some people who are going through similar things.

New Year, New Me!

So tonight was my night! I'd planned to shave, but at the last minute, clippers in hand, I went short buzz instead. Still I feel liberated, and I know I'll not have to deal with those long hairs all over the place that are still shedding so severely! I did find a few more bald spots in this process, which was a little disheartening, but I know it's all part of the AA process, so I didn't grieve over them, just looked then moved on. Derm update today

I went back to the dermatologist today for a follow up after my first round of steroid shots 8 weeks ago. She said she does see a little bit of regrowth! Although it's just a little, and the other hairs are still coming out like crazy, I'm still going to go ahead and shave/buzz it all off on NY Eve. Well my journey with AA has been bumpy so far. And I'm sure that has been the story for many at the first stages. I'm still adjusting, and have my good days and bad. Oh that's so cool, that is a good way to start the new year indeed!
It makes your wig stronger on your head (if you millimeter your hair) which is good, and it feels funny, haha.
