Hi.
I am an Actress and Singer, also a Mum to an almost 2 year old.
I've been slowly losing my hair for about a year but was able to conceal it pretty easily for a long time.
Recently though it started really coming out and getting harder to hide with partings. A couple of weeks ago I washed my hair and it all matted so I shaved it off and shared the new me on Facebook.
I decided that although I will wear wigs and hats sometimes, I don't want to have to hide the fact that I have alopecia. For me this has made the process easier. I'm astounded at how supportive and positive everyone has been.
Hi there! Just wanted to say thank you for posting, "A Bald Women's Guide to Survival". It was extremely inspiring. I have alopecia totalis for more then 20 years. I am still in hiding. Aside from my immediate family, I have opened up to only 5 friends about my alopecia. Society puts so much emphasis on appearance that we forget that we should not allow ourselves to be defined by our hair.

I'm getting so inspired by the bald heads on here. That's what I think I'm moving to next. Beautiful! Here's my story. http://damselindepression.com/wig-wrap-or-razor/
