I have had my Freedom wig for over two weeks now and had hoped it would have gotten better, but I'm still having problems! Is this normal?

I never feel like it is on right!

Today, for example, I have taken it off and tried to put it on at least five different times this morning ... I STILL feel like it's not on right! I either get a bubble somewhere, or it feels uncomfortable, or it feel crooked or uneven .... AARRGH!!!!! I paid thousands of dollars in the hopes I would have a comfortable wig that I would never have to think about -- and instead it's driving me crazy all day long!!

What do I do?? I already watched the instructional video, I already had my consultant show me how to put it on ... short of having her move into my home with me and help me get ready every morning, I'm not sure what I can do at this point. Do I just keep trying and trying and trying and trying and hope that one day in a few months I can finally figure out how to get the damn thing on?!?

Has anyone else had this much problem?? Can only people with unusually high IQs wear this thing successfully? Please help me out.

Jenny-

I felt the same way.  One thing that helped me was putting on the prototype that was sent to you.  I put it on and looked at where everything fell.  Then I put on my Freedom wig.  It still takes me a few times to get it on right (I've only been wearing it everyday for a couple of weeks too).  You can definitely tell when it is on right.  I know you are stressing though because of how much you have paid for this.  I know that since I have started wearing it right, it feels awesome all day and doesn't bother me.  The only time it does and when I have some hair growth...then I know I need to shave.

Good luck and I hope it gets better!

Thanks, that does help.

I went back and watched the video again and realized I was not spraying the inside of the cap with water, so I bought a spray and that has helped considerably. It also helps to keep my thumbs on the sides when I adjust it to get them to line up properly.

I also have to tell myself to allow enough time every morning to "put my head on."

Hopefully I'm getting there ...

Hi PianaJenny

Take a breath....you will work this out.  I haven't lost one yet and I won't loose you.

When you get a freedom wig the fit is often about how it feels (understandably).  If you have worn any other type of wig you will have a preconceived notion of how a wig should feel.  Do your best to put all that aside. Freedom Wigs feel different to any other wig on the market.  They do not feel tight...you will feel like you have something on your head but the tightness factor that many people equate to a good fit is not there...which can be a bit offputting for a new wearer.

Do you have your fitcap?  If you do put it on(making sure it is straight and in the right position). Mark around the edge of the fitcap (using eye pencil or a soft make up pencil).  Take the fitcap off (this will leave the outline you have drawn on with the pencil).  Lightly wet the inside of your wig.  Watch the DVD and put your wig on using the technique shown (you may find your own technique..many do, but for now do your best to replicate what is shown on the DVD). Once your wig is on where you feel it is right...check to see if you can see the whole outline of the marks you put on with your fitcap...if you can I would suggest you have it on in the right position.  If not....try again.

Once you have got your wig on in the right position make sure you have gently squeezed the air out.  Then sit and relax for a couple of minutes (maybe pop on the rest of your make-up).  This will give the water you put inside your cap, to help manoeuvre it onto your head, time to pass through the cap.  Then double check again as to the positioning....double checking above the ears and the front hairline.

Your wig will not feel tight...which is something many people struggle with.  As that equates to some as it not being secure...it is secure, but feels very comfortable.  You will feel movement under the cap.  You have an immovable object sitting on moveable skin and muscle.  Some people have more mobile scalps than others...movement does not equate to a lack of security.  It is just your muscles moving and you will get use to this.

I would also like you to ring your Independent Agent and discuss the issues you are having as they are trained to help you get this right....remember most wear Freedom Wigs so they really know what to do.

Hope this all helps.

Well, sad to say I am STILL struggling with this, almost two full months after I've had it.

Tonight i finally took the thing off, put it in the closet, and put on a hat instead because it was so uncomfortable, even after I tried and re-tried several times to get it right.

I have gotten in touch with my consultant and she wants to meet with me. I can't imagine what she is going to tell me that I haven't already read on-line or seen in the video, but I guess it's worth a shot.

I'll be sure to update here if there are any changes.

This is the very best thing to do.  Your IA wears these wigs as you know so she will be able to help you with this.  Your frustration is understandable but I know without doubt this will be ok.
