I enjoy painting and writing, but not sure that classifies me as an "artist".

I've been working on a book for the past several years, and it is really starting to take shape.  I've been featuring people who have made a difference with their experience by making choices to do something better, or to living up to their true potential...and this group seems to be a very talented bunch from what I can tell.

If you'd like to be part of this project, feel free to check out my website for "Head-On, Stories of Alopecia".  It can be seen at www.baldgirlsrock.com.  You can also see it on facebook under the "Head-On..." title.  I would love it if you could "like" and "share" it so it will continue to encourage more people to share their stories.

The alopecia community has always been so supportive of one another, and my hope is that word of this project will spread like wildfire. I look forward to hearing your story.

Hello, my artsy friends...
I just posted some of my Holiday cards and stamps on Zazzle. You can check them out, here:

We don't send as many cards as we used to...I kind'a miss getting and sending more Christmas cards. It's alwasy fun to check the mail and find a pile of season's greetings! Anyway, for anyone still thinking about cards...visit my site for some options. Have a very Merry Christmas...or Happy Holiday...or Season's Greetings...

...for some reason, the other two book covers didn't make it onto the previous post. Here they are:

This has been a very busy year, so far. I had three children's books released in the spring, a book that's ready to release in early 2013 and I have three more that I'm working on between now and the end of the year.
I visit schools and libraries to promote reading, share a bit about creating the artwork for books and demonstrate how students can draw simple cartoon characters for their own stories.
Anyway, I shaved my head last year but still use some older promo stuff...posters, slides, etc. that show me with hair. Kids don't miss a thing! They quickly notice and mention it... I don't spend much time on the issue because I'm there for other reasons but it gives me a chance to talk to a few teachers and librarians, during the day... and even editors (at the publishing companies) about having alopecia. I still don't make it a focus of my visit but it opens a door for discussion about the topic.
I had the privilege of attending last year's (CAP's) Alopeciapalooza and sat in on some parent discussions about their child's struggle with having alopecia and being bullied at school. It breaks my heart to hear how insensitive kids can be. You can’t eliminate all the bad things that happen but you can increase the good. Maybe there is a bigger part that I can play in bringing this discussion to the schools in the future. I'm not sure, at this point how that would work.
Finally, here are a few of my books that were published earlier this year. Dinosaur Pet made it to #3 on The New York Times Best seller list and #1 on the Publisher's Weekly best seller list...very exciting!! We all have our circle of influence... a platform for being who we are. I hope that I can find the strength to share my challenges, along with my achievements because I believe they are all an opportunity to help someone. Thanks for reading this long note… back to the drawing board!

Last night my trio, Dromia, made a couple of demos in a recording studio for the first time. It was so fun! We were in separate rooms, on headphones, and did some overdubbed tracks. I posted a photo of me on my page...can't link it for some reason.

One of the sound technicians (it was a class of students at a college) loved the music so much that he made a recording and put it on soundcloud. This is our first take, which we did NOT end up using because it was a bit fast. It has background voices, and doesn't include the violin and my finger cymbals, which were added later. Here's the link to hear the take:
