I have had hair loss since infancy. The hair grows lovely for months at a time and then becomes dry and brittle and falls out. I have seen many doctors and not one has ever taken a hair sample, they always give topical steroids that never work. I am tired of spending time and money with RX who don't seem concerned with a black woman who is losing her hair. I have been told that the cause was anything from hy hairstyle to the wig I was wearing to hide the baldness. I was also told that I must wash my hair several times a week in order to stop it from falling out. That made my scalp sore and dry. Are there any decent doctors in the Carolinas who will take me seriously?

Hi Lisa,
I started this group just a few days ago in hopes that others around the Carolinas would share their experiences with doctors/dermatologists in our area. I have to hope that there are some excellent dermatologists out there who will take our concerns seriously and that members here will recommend them. Hang in there!
