Anyone have a good Dermatologist in Richmond (or nearby) they would recommend for treating Alopecia?

One dermatologist I saw at VCU told me my only option was Rogaine. Another dermatologist I tried did cortisone shots in my eyebrows with such bad technique that it left divots for several months. The dermatologist I've had for years ran out of options after cortisone shots, topical steroids, and Prednisone (which I know is a terrible idea).

I saw a dermatologist while visiting family in another state that had all sorts of treatment options including squaric acid, DPCP, and methotrexate. After seeing her, I grew back most of my hair after going Universalis using squaric acid, but have since relapsed. I've been hoping the find a knowledgeable dermatologist in Richmond but haven't had any luck.

Feel free to message me if you are not comfortable posting a name in the group.

Thanks,
Sam

Hi Sam,
The dermatologist I saw for about a year while I still had some hair offered pretty much the same standard treatments you mention. I'd be very interested to find out more about the squaric acid treatment and to see if anyone in this area does that.

Hi Sam,
Sorry to hear about the replapse. My story is somewhat same. I had AA then AT and then AU. Somehow I got my scalp hair back 6 months back but no eyebrows or facial hair. I just changed a bit of my food aand drinks habits. Again I see a relapse and have again lost 40% of scalp. It is very frustrating but I guess we need to keep trying.

I live around 50 miles from Reston but it is a very short notice. Maybe we can gather other Alopecians from the NOVA and surrounding areas and have a meetup.

Rogaine for AU? Omg... Dcpc is current best treatment and you responded before so you should try again.
