It's official. September 14, 2008 is our Alopecia Areata Day of Beauty and premier fundraising event. For the second year in a row, our event is hosted in the beautiful, townhouse location of the Mark Garrison salon in the heart of Manhattan.

Limited vendor space available. Please request info from thea@baldgirlsdolunch.org

Working around that date, we're setting the Memphis, Louisville, Syracuse, Fort Lauderdale and other requested city schedules.

I just can't wait until BGDL is in Arizona again! I only found out about BGDL 2 months ago. It sounds like so much fun to meet other bald ladies like me, and exchange experiences.

So I'm from Memphis, and I am curious: How exactly does BGDL work and will you ever have any events in Memphis??? Or Nashville??? Please???

I just want to share an experience I had when attending a luncheon 6 months ago...I got a chance to meet 9 other beautiful women who shared the same condition I have...

Finally I got a chance to see someone of my likeness, some women came to the function without wigs and others had wigs on, but we still shared our stories and felt a sisterhood in our likeness.

I left that luncheon with the understanding of knowing:
We do have options and choices of what we want to wear on our heads, be it our baldness, a wig, a headwrap or a hat...it is our choice!

If you show others that you don't have a problem with being bald when you want to be bald...You show your strength...

It is up to us to show that we are the captains of our ships, who shall and will spread the Awareness of Alopecia and how we as Natural Beauties can live with it how we please!

I want to Thank Thea Chassin again, for bringing "Bald Girls Do Lunch" to Arizona and allowing those of us who met the opportunity for new friendships and sisterhood.

Joining this group to remind you to return to the Phoenix area soon! I wasn't able to attend the last lunch, but plan on it next time. By the way, Phoenix is absolutely gorgeous fall, winter AND spring - it's a great place! :o) (small hint)

I've been to a couple of bald girls luncheons. They are wonderfully inspiring and I met a couple of great people. It's definitely worth it. Whenever it's in my area, I attend
