Hello. I am also in the same boat. Although I am only 20, I feel the same kind of feelings. Not many people know/can tell that I wear a wig, so yes it is a big annoyance to keep running to put it on. I also have a problem with the wig stretching out. As of right now I only wear synethetic wigs. Human hair is a little out of my price range at the moment. Since summer is quickly approaching, I am looking for something that I can wear on my head that can get wet. Synthetic wigs get frizzy and even melt when they get hot and wet. So I'm not thinking that's a good idea. I also am very sensitive to what people say/think/look at me. I know I need to get over that, but it's been really difficult for me. So if you find any information, please pass it along!

Hi there,

I started out wearing human hair systems that were bonded to my scalp. I was able to do it for about 2 years and after that my skin started having major reactions to the glue, even the glue for the sensitive skin and I couldn't do it anymore. I was itching all the time and it was pulling out the hair in the piece. I'm now purchasing a vacuum piece so I can wear it without having to worry about it falling off, I can swim in it and I don't have to pay the monthly servicing costs I was paying when I was doing the bonding. It is a lot more money up front but in the long run because of how long they last and the quality of the hair, I think I'm going to be very happy. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. I have checked out a lot of wigs and have explored a lot of places.

I would not bond it to my head personally. I have a very good human hair wig and I don't even tape it anymore.I wouldn't like to sleep in the wig either, its uncomfortable and it'll wear faster. Its nice to take it off and put on my bandana at night.
Everyone is different though, I guess it would be nice to not put it on and off all the time but I'm sure the maintenance is expensive.

Hi,

I was a member of Hair Club for Kids for 2 years, and they bond the hair to your head.I had to go to Hair Club every 4-6 weeks to get a touch up on my hair. Honestly if i was financially stable to be a member of Hair Club again i would I loved my hairstylist and the customer service was wonderful. Some people do frown upon the idea of having hair bonded to their head but for me personally it made me more comfortable around my peers becasue no one knew that the hair on my head wasnt "mine", until i told them. I believe that you would be comfortable with it just make sure you are good with the upkeep or it will smell like susan stated...just weigh your options..but this is a very good one in my opinion

Susan is right....bonded wigs stink!! Maybe not when you're actually wearing it but when they take that baby off for servicing or whatever it is not a pretty sight. And sleeping in your wig will just destroy it a lot faster. Personally i love sleeping bald. A vacuum wig is great for swimming as it wont fall off at all. I bought and used one for about 4 months and took it on vacation and everything. I was able to actually swim with a wig on for the first time in years. In the end I decided to switch to a lace wig though because i found the vacuum wigs to be too hot. Many people tolerate them very well though. You can supposedly swim with a lace wig too if you use the right adhesive/tape but I haven't tried it yet. This year I plan to swim bald :)

Kaitlin, you can use a steamer to get the friz out of a synthetic wig. Just steam and brush at the same time....don't put the steamer to close to the wig though and of course be careful with your fingers and the steam....
