Hi Beth, I have a full lace wig by Joseph Paris. So far it's my favorite wig because it's the most natural looking and is also lightweight. I use tape to wear it (i like to take it off every night). Let me know if you have any questions! Cindy
Hi Beth,

I have 2 Joseph Paris wigs and they're great. I just picked up my "wedding hair" last weekend and its great (better than the first actually). I highly recommend going there, best option I have found so far!

Erin
Thanks ladies! I'm glad to know that your experience was worth it! My question to you is: Did you travel to New York for your fittings? Also, did your insurance cover any of the cost? I called the salon and talked to Joseph Paris about my options and he suggested a full lace piece. He quoted me one cost, then when I talked to the receptionist, she told me a different price ($1000 more)! So I'm not sure what to do here! I'm not in a position where I can pay $1000 more! If you don't mind, could you tell me how much your pieces were??? Thanks! Beth
Hi Beth,

I did travel to NY from North Carolina which did add to the cost of the whole process. I do not have health insurance so that didn't help me at all. I have a full lace wig and it cost me $2700 after tax was added... I wish I had the $1000 quote! Let me know how this works out for you,

Erin
Well, the first quote was $1500 and the second was $2500. Thanks for the info!
Do these wigs only last one year, or do they last longer than that?
I got a Joseph Paris full lace wig recently. Let them know you are from alopecia world and you will get a 5% discount. It is I believe $1500 for just the wig with an additional $1000 to have it customized to fit your head, styled, cut, and the knots bleached so that the lace is virtually undetectable. I chose the second option.

Now for my review: The customer service is very good and they give 3 complementary visits to have the wig washed, maintained, or styled for a special event. At my first free visit they showed me how to wash the wig properly which a previous company I went to did not. This was very helpful. I live in the NY area so it was not hard for me to get there. The lace is very much concealed and there is no underlining showing through like with my previous lace wig. It isn't bad I do find it tangling and it is kind of dry since I washed it. It's pretty comfortable, and durable for a lace wig. I am new to wearing wigs and resent having to wear one so I doubt I would be in love with any wig. I do think if you want a lace wig and can afford the price Joseph Paris may be the best choice it is certainly better than my first one where all the hair fell out on top and the lining showed after a month. My insurance only covered $300 for my first wig and I was told at Joseph Paris that the tax could be re-embersed with a form sent to the insurance company, they will go over the procedure with you. I hope this was helpful. The good thing about the hair being somewhat wavy and not "perfect" is that I have been told it looks like real hair. I opted for human hair and it is very blonde perhaps if I got a darker color it would be a bit healthier and less processed. You can get synthetic or human hair for the same price at Joseph Paris. I hope this was helpful.
For $1500 you can get a stock wig right out of the box from Joseph Paris. They will fit it to your head, bleach the knots and cut/style it for you and you can take it the same day. The $2500 quote (what I paid plus tax) is for their semi custom lace wig. For that price they will hand sew hair into the front hairline to make it look like your own hairline or whatever you want it to look like, they will add highlights/low lights throughout if you want them and that also includes the 3 free follow ups that Dominique mentioned. Honestly, I didnt even try to get anything from my insurance since it hasn't worked in the passed but i know that some insurance companies will reimburse you some money if you provide them with a prescription from your doctor for a 'medical hair prosthesis' for alopecia areata and the medical invoice that Joseph Paris provides.

As for how long they last....I've had my mine for over 7 months now and it looks great still. Had to have 1 minor repair on it (which they do on the same day you bring it in) but it doesn't look worn/old at all. If you take good care of it, it can def last you over a year. Cindy
whoops! I actually got 10% off for being a member of alopecia world. Every little bit helps!
I thought I was told if I wanted the "knots bleached" and a "Semi custom fit" I would have to pay $2500. I didn't even get any highlights or lowlights although I didn't ask for them and I don't think they hand sewed anything into the front hairline hmmm?
a semi custom fit is def $2500. otherwise they just cut the lace, sew pleats into it if needed so its not too big and off you go. i guess i might be wrong about the knots bleaching but for semi custom they do hand sew hair into the front hairline to make it look even more natural . i mean did you take it the same day? of did you have to wait a couple of weeks? usually, you purchase then wait a couple of weeks for them to finish the front hairline...
I waited a couple of weeks. I don't know if they hand sewed hair in but I ended up cutting in bangs to make it look more natural.
