customise your wigs
hi has any one customised their wigs ? when ever i get a wig there is always some thing i dont like about it . i cut my own wigs thin them out add layers all learnt from the internet as i won1t go to a hairdresser as i have had to many ruined wigs. i also save old wigs that have maybe gone a bit thin on top and cut the wefts out and sew them into newer wigs that way u get highlights as well ; i also unpic the crowns of wigs and sew the crown of another wig in that may be i think looks better they last longer tooo becouse if the wig is lose n hair i just add sum more in you can do this with real hair or synthetic hair but i would nt mix the two hair types .

Wow! You can do all that to your own wigs? Very impressive. You are like me with wigs. I have currently have bought 5 wigs and I hate each and every one of them. There is always something ugh that I find in each one that makes me hate them. I have had them ruined by an over zealous hairdresser. Just bought the wig Courage by Alan Eaton. It needed a trim and the hair dresser trimmed too much off so wig ruined. I still have to pay for it because the wig is being altered but will never wear the thing......Would love to be able to fix a wig myself as my experience with wigs being cut has proven to be a nightmare......

thnks for your reply i also buy 2 cheaper wigs and make one nice one that i actually like and if i buy 2 dif colours i can have high lights iv been wearing wigs since i was 11 so i have plenty of experience its jus like putting hair extensions in your own wig

i do custom wigs. I would suggest if you get one done that you tell them that you want a normal density which is like 100%-120%. you can order what they call a gradual fade. are your units Lace wigs? there are so many options out right now. but you sound like your having a problem with the density.That what makes the wigs really bulky looking. Alot of hairdressers get nervous when dealing with wigs. you should usually ask if they have any photos of wigs that they done so that you can see the work before you get in the chair. thats the best thing to do. or have a photo of how you want your hair if you know that the person can cut really good.
These wigs cost too much for someone to screw up so I know how you feel.

no its not that i do like big hair lol i just like to take bits out and add bits in untill i have the perfect wig i have had lace top wigs and yes i do love em would like another one but at mo iv jus paid a lot for 3 from yaffa wigs

Thanks for your inspirational post. I think we could all probably customise our wigs more- it is to do with confidence really. I will certainly try some of your recommendations.

its really easy its like addin hair extensions in but u take any frizzy bits out and sew new hair in and if they slighty dif colour it dont matter cos it makes it look more natral i think

Do you guys feel better wearing wigs. Or is it that society doesnt understand or appreciate a bald beauty and so you have to go out into public wearing a wig?

i dont know about guys , but i like wearingf a wig my husbnd likes me with or with out its my choice and i feel more confident with a wig and yes more attractive boy friends in the past have not minded eiither that i wear a wig although my husband is the only one too ever c this bald beauty and my kids and family

I can take welts out because me head is smaller and I thin the wig style I wear. But I don't think I'm brave enought to do the other alterations you do. But that at least gives me some ideas. The back of mine often shows the welts. This adding some from old wig may help that. Thanks! Linda

yes u can do that it will solve the prob and then u can thin it out after u can practice on an old wig first and u can try to take the crown off a wig and sew it on another u can see the stitches and the crown piece is usually attatched jus above the ear pieces give it a try its great a whole new wig at no cost x

if its a wefted wig and not a lace wig its easy just look inside and c how they have made it u can just ad a weft of hair u will see that the hair is sewn in in strips which are called wefts or welts not sure which lol jus sew them in b;y hand where ever u want exactly as the others are sewn in its so easy it really is good luck and congratulations on creating yr new style x blond sreaks will look fab and if u dont like em take em out again how good is that
