"Beautiful Cheryl! I've gotten to the point when someone tells me they have Alopecia my first answer is typically AWESOME -- then I reel it back in and acknowledge they're probably not there yet. It certainly is an opportunity for growth,…"

About Me:
I've had Alopecia Areata since I was 11. I wore wigs for 19 long years but 9 years ago I turned 30 and had my "coming out party" as The Bald Chick!

I am (as of the last 2 weeks) a New York Times Best Selling Author. My 1st book I Love You More has sold over 200,000 copies.

I have a company called I Shine, Inc thats mission is to generate the conversation of love around the world through books, music, speaking, TV, film and the web.

I have a school program called Self-Esteem through Love: Empowering our Children to Shine! The first lesson I share about is "Just Be Yourself" and how I finally learned to embrace that simple though not always easy lesson after many years. You can find out more about my book and school program at
www.HippieandTheBaldChick.com

I am also co-founder of CoCreating Our Reality a global web community using Universal Laws and Principals to cocreate the world of our dreams!
www.CoCreatingOurReality.com (it is on this same social network site)

I believe with every part of me that our biggest challenges become our biggest blessings...Alopecia Areata has certainly been (one of) mine!!!

Have a bright and blessed lifetime!

Keep Shining!

Are there any aspiring Children's Authors in the group?

Posted on October 22, 2008 at 3:53pm 0 Comments

Hello my fellow Alopecians :-)

I haven't stopped by in a while as I've been busy getting ready to teach my first ever "Children's Author Academy". I realized I didn't share this with all of you and I know there are probably at least a few of you who have a great idea for a children's book brewing inside of you! Obviously some of the greatest children's books share life lessons and we have all certainly learned a few!!! My class is focusing on creating your own bestselling children's… Continue

Alopecia on Entourage

Posted on September 22, 2008 at 4:36pm 3 Comments

I was catching up on my Tivo's episodes of Entourgare (I know...not the most enlightened show) but they mentioned Alopecia twice in one episode. Not really anything about it but just that someone had it which I found strange unless they were obvioulsy trying to bring attention to it. It is awareness month...I was wondering if someone that works on or with the show is affected? I haven't been on this site in a while...Was there any mention of it here? Let me know if you heard… Continue

A post from one of my MySpace friends "Tribe of Eden" on Incurable Diseases and the power of love!

Hello my bald brothers and sisters!

I have asked one of my MySpace friends if I could copy his post here. Bryan Eden is part of "Tribe of Eden" a group of hardrockers bringing a positive message to the world through their music. He shared this story in a recent bulletin and I wanted to share it all with you! I am certain, that as Bryan proved...with love...anything is possible! Enjoy and please visit his sites that I listed at the bottom. I thought this was an incredbily powerful testiment… Continue

How/When My Alopecia started (a long one...)

Posted on March 18, 2008 at 8:14pm 0 Comments

Hello My Shining Ones :-)

I also just posted a video that shares some of this same *long* story....if you'd rather watch than read :-)

In my first blog I said I would share "how/when" my Alopecia started as the story has unraveled itself to me slowly over the years! When I was 7 or 8 years old I realized I was somehow meant to "travel the world, meet my brothers and sisters and spread the message of love." Yes, perhaps an odd thought for a child, but it was something that… Continue

But back to Alopecia World...this is awesome! What a great resource and place for people to meet, ask questions and feel a sense of community! I *LOVE* the… Continue

Hi Laura,
Wow that is FAB about your book! What is the topic? I have a new book out -- my 2nd book -- called, "If Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing!" You can find out more by going to my page. It sounds like you have the same spiritual beliefs that I do...

Laura, your nail biting history was interesting as I have always been a nail biter and only in the last year or so have finally stopped. So I guess stress was a big part of my life although I have no idea what the initial stress was that had me start nail biting. I was 38 when I developed au, and although I know there is debate over whether stress can actually trigger alopecia, I firmly believe it was the trigger to my au. I choose to wear a wig as I prefer to fit in, but I am full of admiration for those like yourself who don't cover up. More power to you!
