About Me:
My name is Kim Karacz Caudill and I've had Alopecia since I was 9 years old. For several years, I had Areata only. The spots would come and go, some severe – some minor. When I was 12 years old, Mom and I started to explore options. We got very creative! But eventually, these measures were replaced with my first synthetic wig later that same year. I still remember the name of the piece: “Brandy” (and I think they still sell “her” to this day!) Wearing a hair piece was short lived, however, as most of my hair grew back in within the next year. I continued to have spots, but was able to disguise them pretty well. But by my senior year of college – about 8 years later - I lost it all in a span of about 4 months. Soon thereafter, I lost my eyebrows and eyelashes. Fear, anxiety, confusion and sadness all started to creep in.

My mom and I decided to contact Fuller Hair (Freedom Wigs agent); and along came Debbi Fuller – a wonderful, full of life, head-tattooed woman who rocked my world. And she was bald like me! But she was a lot happier, self-confident, and looked fantastic.

And after 12 years as a client of Freedom Wigs, I am proud to share that I've been an agent for over 10 years now. I help Texas and surrounding states and run my own company, Second Nature Hair. I office out of Round Rock, TX (just outside of Austin) and travel as my clients need me to.

I love what I do and will be a resource to anyone who feels we may be a fit. My goal is to have fellow Alopecians feel as good and as adjusted as I do with my own hair loss. I don't sell; if the piece I wear is right for you, great. If something else works (or nothing at all!) that is fantastic too. I believe the goal is to live life as happy and as best we can.
Do you have alopecia?
Alopecia totalis
Are you age 18 or older?

Hi Kim,
May I ask what the density of the piece you're wearing in your current profile pic is? It looks great.

Your hair is more than beautiful!!! How much does something like that cost, only way shorter. ?? How long do they last? Hot in humid weather? Thanks so much.

Yes, she has lost the majority of her hair and although she will have some grow back, it has fallen out again in the past. We are looking for something that will help her through middle school. Please send me whatever information you have in this area. I will contact Tracey about the support group, thank you again.

I am looking for a support group in San Antonio. My daughter was diagnosed with Alopecia in 2008 and it has been a very difficult road. She is 13 years of old and needs someone to talk to about this. Also, I'd like to know if anyone knows of a good place in San Antonio to find wigs.

Kim, I was curious if you have observed any alopecia issues in your children? My daughter is 26 and while planning her wedding, she got a bald spot. It has now come back with no treatment.
Also, I have heard that freedom wigs can cost $1500-$4000. I love the wigs and it has been hard enough to have to turn 50 this year, but 50 and bald?? Anyway, if you can share any info I would appreciate it. Thanks!
