My situation was the exact same in the beginning. I first found one bald spot and then before I knew it I hade about 6 within two weeks. I received the cortisone steroid injection from my doc and the hair in the bald spots grew in but a finer texture. It has since developed into telogen effluvium. Also though I have gotten an occasional bald spot here or there that has corrected itself. The telogen effluvium on the other hand is very persistent. I have been dealing with this disease for 6 years. I try not to let it get me down, but it does effect my self esteem. I am also in the Chicago area. Thanks for the post.
