I would never treat you in the ways you fear. As a Southern gentleman, I treat all women like ladies - the way they should be. I know I'm not the only gentleman out there.
I've dated a woman with alopecia before; that no romance came off had NOTHING to do with her being bald. We just had no common interests, and we still keep in touch.
a freedom wig is not a wig, its a prosthesis. It is molded to your head and is suctioned to your head. If you tug on the prosthesis, it wll not come off unless u create an air pocket with your finger. you should google "freedom hair"
Hi Angel! I so agree withyour comment about trying to find our feminine side once again! I can honestly share your feelings about dating with this condition for I was an older single mom for over 15 years.
Thanks goodness this website has come along!
You can feel feminine even with hair loss - just focus on your best assets; update your makeup or try some new accessories; treat yourself to a professional manicure & pedicure; try out some new headgear.
Hi Angell,
Glad to hear that someone else here is from NJ. I'm in Norther NJ. Where are you? I've had alopecia for 36 years. It sucks but I live with it. Hopefully we'll get a chance to talk sometime.
Barbara
Hi Angell,
Wow, I know what you are going through. I've been through it all, since I've had aa for 30 years! The dating part can be a nightmare. I wanted to help support other women, so I wrote a book called, "f Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing!" It has lots of help with dating, men, makeup tips and tips on finding good wigs -- and other women's stories as well as my own. If you are interested, go to my page. There's a link at the bottom and you can read more about it and order if you like, online.
Let me know if I can help you,
LeslieAnn
Hi Angell,
sometimes I feel the same way. it's hard to trust people anymore. just know you are still the same wonderful person you were with your hair. I live in MD, 53 and trying to find a special man. my friends tell me i'm chicken. just cautious I say.
I lost my hair the first time when I was 24. I know the nightmare navigating thru the intimate, self image aspects of the disease. I have AA so what you see is my real hair but with lots of spots that I cover up. One can never truly cover up the anxiety of hair loss, altho I try. Don't know what I would be like if it happened for the first time now.
