Thanks for the welcome Jennifer. I didn't realize how many alopecians there are in BC. This is really a great site. A little about myself: i have two kids a boy 8 and a girl 6. Because my mom has alopecia I worry about my kids getting it to. But so far so good. Infact my daughter has a ton of long blond hair. I hope it stays. One day she asked me when her hair will come off. It was very sweet - she just thought that was normal. I have been married for 18 years in Oct. My husband is so supportive and loves that I don;t spend a ton of time in the bathroom getting ready (me too!). Hope to chat more in the future with you. Have a great day!! Nikki

Hi
I just returned to Vancouver after living in Australia and want to know if you belong to an Alopecia support group in the Lower Mainland. If so which one and if not are you interested in joining one?
Sorry we missed you too.
Make sure and keep me updated with your plans for a visit to San Francisco. Any dates planned yet?
Where are you in Vancouver? We stayed Downtown at The Sutton Place. Way Fabulous!!!
Hey Jen,
It,s been about a year for me to too, since the hair started falling out and now it is all gone. I am going to get some eyebrows made or perhaps tattoo some on in the next week or so. What a weird year!
i think its good to get extra support, Alopecia world is great but I would like to meet someone face to face and chat about it. If you ever want to talk, I'm here (sometimes I don't check in for a while). Please do let me know about the meeting, I think it would be really interesting to go.
So only a year into this whole thing eh? Almost a year and a half for me.
I'm glad you are ajusting well.
Do you think you will go to the Naaf Conf in Houston this year? Going to Louisville last year really helped me out alot. I got to meet so many nice people. D'oh thinking you might have been one of them
Thanks for the kind words, Jennifer. This week is a special week for me in terms of my hair loss. It was a year ago Jan. 30 that I shaved my head. I keep remembering what I was going through at this time last year, and thinking about how far I've come. I basically don't give a rat's ass (to put it mildly) who sees me bald. I still feel self-conscious at times, and I'm aware I look different. But, I just don't care. Life is beautiful and too short to worry about hair. I hope you're doing well and having a great week. I wish we could all get together somehow! Mary
p.s. I went to start a group for people that don't mind going out bald, and found that there's already one that seems to cover us. I just joined it. It's entitled something to do with women who have shaved, and I haven't read through all the comments yet.
Hello Jennifer! First I have to tell you what a lovely voice you have! Its a pity that you live 10 hours flight from me... My future husband is also a musician, he is vocalist and play leadguitar. http://www.cc-knights.com/.
I totally agree with you about the bad hair days -they are more less nowadays (I have AU since nov-08). I can see more and more benefits to be an alopecian. For example: I work as aerobic instructor in my speartime and I never use the wig when training. Afterwards it's just take a shower and put the hair on... perfect! Have a nice day!
