I'm so happy for you Lula and you're story is very motivating. I'm pregnant with baby no.3 and have been on full gaps this whole pregnancy and have felt the best I ever have. For us, gaps will be part of our lifestyle for life. We all able MTHFR gene mutations so we have been advised low carb/paleo/gaps for life. It's easy to do when you feel so good. I find birthday parties for my kids a challenge (it breaks my heart when my daughter asks to smell candy as she knows she's not allowed to eat…

I find birthday parties for my kids a challenge (it breaks my heart when my daughter asks to smell candy as she knows she's not allowed to eat it) but I know it's for the best. I was reading a Rob Wolff transcript and he talks of a friend of his mothers who had alopecia for 20yrs. She went paleo and her hair started growing back. These stories make me so happy and hopeful for my daughter. I'm so happy after 10yrs your hair has grown back Lula. That is awesome.
Lula, that's so lovely to hear - so pleased for you. On a friend's recommendation, I bought this book - Recipes for the Specific Carbohydrate Diet by Raman Prasad from Amazon - it's got some really good recipes inside. Happy to share other recipes if you need any.

We started with soups for the first couple of days and then went into full diet (couldn't persuade her to have the broth!). It's totally eliminated the stomach aches she used to get too! I can't tell you how happy my daughter is now - the hair that has regrown is about 2 inches long and is beginning to blend in with the hair she didn't loose.

That is brilliant H's mum. My daughter now had 2 of her 5 patches which have almost all grown back but there are still 3 stubborn patches which haven't budged. I'm still hopeful though. We've been on full gaps since mid October 2013. Did you start with intro or are you just doing full gaps? We are so happy with our results so far.

My daughter (13) lost about two-thirds of her hair over the course of a year. Trips to the doctor, several blood tests, dermotologist at hospital could find no underlying cause. Dermotologist could only offer steroid creams, a booklet showing how children decorated their bald heads (!!), a wig and an offer of an appointment with a Psychiatrist. Dermotologist could only offer steroid creams, a booklet showing how children decorated their bald heads (!!), a wig and an offer of an appointment with a Psychiatrist. In desperation I trawled the internet.....and started to learn about food intolerances - we had suspected lactose intolerance for a while. We started the GAPS diet in Sept 2013 (5 months ago). Within a couple of weeks red spots appeared on her head, followed by baby soft hair. Now there is not a single bald patch on her head and I can't begin to tell you how overjoyed she is. GAPS isn't really that bad once you get into a good routine. Lots of fresh, unprocessed food - fruit, veg, nuts, meat, fermented yoghurt, honey is great to add a bit of sweetness. The Paleo diet is similar, as is the SCD diet. Eating out IS a challenge, but it has been so worth it.
Yes I am seeing some improvem…tag:alopeciaworld.com,2013-10-16:2022678:Comment:11018632013-10-16T10:03:48.658ZMayohttps://alopeciaworld.com/profile/Mayo
Yes I am seeing some improvement with my daughter and its been 3 weeks.... It's great. The dr did say we would be challenged again when she goes through puberty but we'll deal with that if and when it happens. Very happy for you Ashley. That's great news

Hey Jason. We saw the hormone specialist yesterday and to no surprise he told us to cut out ALL carbs (potato, rice, corn, gluten etc... You get the drift) so we are now on the GAPS/paleo diet. I have to be on it too to clear up my system if we have another child so the next child doesn't have the same problems (my second child- 11 months old is following suit of my 2&1/2 yr old so all 3 of us are on this diet. She had a blood test today to test for some other things as well.... Thyroid…

Wow I know we will get used to it but I am a slave to the kitchen at the moment. I am committed to do what it takes. The dr was happy to work with my naturopath ( he has worked with this naturopath before with other patients) so we go back to see him in 2 weeks with results of blood tests etc so ill keep you posted. What are some of your favourite easy to make snacks? Meals are fine, it's the snacks I'm finding difficult for the kids (I have downloaded a heap of paleo kindle books to help....certain,y have to be organised).
How are you going on your journey? Any success with getting rid of the bug?
