I live in Arizona.  Does anyone have experience or advice for wearing a wig in 100+ degree weather?  My job sometimes has me outside walking from location to location.  I bought my first wig yesterday and wore it today.  Luckily it went well and it wasn't as hot as it normally is, but I am stressing out for the days ahead.

Thank you

I lived in Arizona for a while, Scottsdale to be exact! I try to have a human hairpiece for when I exercise in public or want to spend a lot of time in the heat. Most days with my synthetic I just keep a hair clip in my purse just in case I need to keep my hair off the back of my neck. I have a "heat defiant" synthetic from Jon Renau and give it a few sprays of their HD Smooth Detangler but their heat treatment thermal spray might not be a bad idea considering the temperatures you're in. It says it works for human or synthetic.

Oh- and if you're feeling overheated just skip the wig cap or (even better) run the cap under some cool water and put everything back on. It feels odd at first but it's SUCH a relief.

Lana, how do you find the HD fiber holds up?  Most say it doesn't......but it surely looks more like real hair.  Did you find HH to be hotter than synthetics?  Why was HH better for time in the heat? I thought it was hotter....

No matter what you do any synthetic fiber is going to eventually "fry" on you. Human hair will stand the heat and last a lot longer than a synthetic but they're expensive and have their own rules for care. I'm naturally more of a warm person so if I ever get overheated I just take the wig cap off and I'm fine. I usually wear a Jon Renau lace front which has a monofilament top and "open wefting" on the sides as they describe it on wigs.com. It allows for a lot of air flow.

Lana, I just go back from a HH wig conference training from Joli Cameleon  wig called the Joli Dancer which is made for Alopecia, it will not slide or fall off. Look at the wig under the Joli Cameleon website.  The artist is a Alopecia client and does professional dancing and Yoga at 104 degrees. Call the company for more information or call me. Jack
