hi all - i joined this site ages ago and then completely forgot about it. i'm in the market to switch up my hairstyle (wig haha) and thought i might get some good advice here. i love my current wig and have been getting the same one for years but need to wear a headband with it - the style i get doesn't look natural on its own and i don't feel like its secure on my head without it either. i'm getting sick of the headband though and am thinking it may be time to invest in a better piece that will look natural without it and feel secure on my head (my current one is about 1000 which i think is on the low price range for human hair and not really customized). i remember reading once about a "vacuum cap" wig - anyone have experience with those/can give any recommendations?

i live about 20 min from manhattan so i'm assuming i should have access to some really great wig salons - any suggestions? surrounding areas as well if you know of any! thanks!!

***also, i'm moving to london in a few months, so if you have any suggestions there, please share as well :)

I know a woman with AU in NJ that works for a wig Company.

Go to the members page and type in Beth and she is the first person on the page. She should be able to advice you with your search. She is super nice and lives in NJ. You can also contact Rosy from New Zealand for a local rep.

Check out eBay and type silk top wigs the Indian remy ones last a long time and they look natural and cheap too.when buying a wig don't forget to save it for your income tax returns since your buying it for medical reasons.

You can check out a place on West 60th Street (near Broadway) http://bitzandpieces.com/about/ which I have been told is fabulous by someone who works for the Metropolitan Opera..As you can see on the website they have lots of options to try on.

Lots of people like the vacuum caps, but when I tried one on at the NAAF Conference least year and found them to be very hot.  They seem to be beautifully made and the hair they use is beautiful.  They run about $3500 and up so they are a major commitment!  They also take several months to make.

Next time I need a new wig I will be checking out Bits and Pieces.

Good luck with your search!

Hair Systems of Long Island was the local place I went to for my bonded hair systems, until I started ordering from HairDirect.com. They offer a 30-day money back guarantee, and I've been happy with the hair quality, price, and Customer service.
