For the pas 2 years I have been getting the very painful kenalog steroid injections so that y hair can grow back. I have not lost all my hair just yet and I have been told by my doctor and his staff that I am one of the many lucky people who have this disease that still have this amount of hair. I have tried wearing wigs, at home treatments, taking vitamins, cutting my hair shorter to give it more volume and so on..... At time I wish that all my hair will finally fall out so I can finally breathe. They say that my hair loss is related to stress, but what I don't get is that how can I stop stressing if what I am stressing about is my hair which never seems to be getting better. I want to stop the injections and just let it be. I want all my hair to fall out already, but I also don't want to lose what I have and the injections is what is making my hair a little better. I am so confused.

Well, I'm sure you'll get a lot of sympathy and support on this board, many of us having gone through it. I had this for years and it was mostly a minor problem. It flared up badly this summer (ironically, just after a period where my hair seemed to be almost entirely back), and after some stressful periods related to a relationship, I shaved my head. I can't say I'm OK, with it, but I will say this: it's better than the inbetween period. If you can still cover up what you have relatively easily and without much thinking, I say keep your hair and try to focus on how to mitigate stress (meditation, accupuncture, exercise, etc.) If you are constantly checking in the mirror to see what's going on, and if you are starting to not like how you look just normally, it might be time to think about shaving your head. Talk with your friends, your loved ones, tell them what's going on, and if you do decide to shave your head, DON'T DO IT ALONE. People will love and care for you no matter what. No better way to have that shown by real evidence when it happens.

It all gets better!
