So, I was reading the book, "Wheat Belly," and it said that there may be a connection with Alopecia, along with other autoimmune disorders that are connected to eating wheat. I have gone off of wheat, just to see if there is any truth to it. I will keep you posted!

Please do let us know what happens! I have heard that gluten-free diets are the way to go as well concerning alopecia. I might research a bit myself!

I found a condensed version of the Wheat Belly book, called 30 minutes to the Wheat Belly Diet on Amazon. It was $6.99, which is a lot cheaper than the whole book. I also bought the cookbook. I am at the end of week one and so far, I haven't missed the wheat at all!

Well, it has been almost 2 months! I have not had any wheat and I am starting to regrow hair in my bald spots! I cannot be more excited! I kinda thought I had some regrowth about a month ago, but was not ready to get that hopeful. But my hair dresser told me that the spots ALL have regrowth!
Side affects of going wheat-free: I've lost a small amount of weight and I feel so much better! I don't see my doctor until August, but I am sure my blood tests will show that the changes have been positive!!

Jean, can you give another update? Are you still off gluten and are your patches still filing in?

Comment by Jean on June 19, 2013 at 5:34pm

Yes, sorry! I am still off of the wheat completely. My hair is doing well, with the exception of 2 small spots that are being stubborn. Both are pretty inconspicuous. I would say that it has been so worth going wheat-free. I am now looking at other foods that are GMO that may affect my hair loss, corn, especially.

Ana-Laura, are you still following a clean diet?

Very exciting! I am going to start as well. Would you suggest the wheat belly cookbook? Have you been following any other recipe books?

Comment by Jean on June 20, 2013 at 1:44pm

Yes, I would suggest that! It has tons of tips and recipes. Good pizza dough, but cut the salt a bit on it. Once you get all of the toppings on the pizza, you don't need the added salt!
I love sweets too, and it has some good dessert recipes.
Also, pinterest has lots of recipes as well. Good luck and let me know how it goes!!!

P.s. my profile pic was taken last week. That is all my real hair! I had to color it, though. I hate that white hair you grow back!!

It's hard to stay true to it initially. But keep fighting the good fight!
