I love this site too! It's really helpful. I haven't had laser but I had steroid injections they didn't go so well. Take care and best of luck in the future.

Steroid results can help if you have only slight loss and if you catch it early enough. Didn't work on me, but that was a long time ago. Laser sounds interesting...keep us posted! And back when I first started losing my hair, we didn't get a biopsy...how does that work, and how can they tell what it is? For me, they just looked at the round spot of hair loss on my head and said, Yup, that's alopecia areata alright.

Hi Lori,

I have been doing laser (LLLT) for almost a year now. And I also was in a study that used LED light. My derm office does offer the laser- but for convenience I am going to a hair salon near my home that offers it.
I wish I could tell you it has made a big difference! It does help take the inflammation out of the scalp- and I think that has helped my hair to re-grow maybe a little faster.....but during this past year while using
the laser I have also had MANY new spots start. So it doe not appear to be able to "stop" the condition-

I do see many of the same people weekly and it is making a huge difference for male and female pattern baldness!!! ( seems any hair loss which is DHT related responds the best)

so far from all I have tried the topical steroids work the best for me. I don't know why it works for some and not others. For me once I put the steroid on a new spot it seems to stop it in it's tracks. But like the laser- helps re-growth but not prevention.

I'm curious to hear how it works for you! Good luck!
