When I first shaved I was sad but also relieved that I didn't need to witness the shedding anymore during my day to day activities.  I thought I looked better and healthier after the shave then having my few patches of straggly hair that I had left.  Shaving is a big step and it is scary. However if you are experiencing terrible hair loss, and if the hair is coming out by handfuls then it may get you to the end quicker so that all you have to do is move forward towards healing.

Warm Wishes to you,

Jenn

Shaving your head can be one if the hardest things you can do, I first lost my hair when I was 9 but then I wasn't fussed about whether I had any hair or not but now I'm at an older age I'm more self conscious, however I shaved my hair off and I've been a lot more happier tbh, as I feel less stressed or upset when I look in the mirror as there's no hair there, whereas seeing hair and patches would upset me more and make it worse for myself. Now I just always wear a cap or bandanna because I am who I am and people should accept me for me.

I was sick of watching it fall out and worrying about how much worse it would get. Finally I just did one day and felt so much relief. I don't really care about the spots anymore. I feel like myself again, healthy and pretty, when before while watching it fall out I felt sad, sick and ugly. I got a wig the day after I shaved and wear it to work mostly but last week I went without it and the reactions were much better than I thought. Good luck to you. I say go for it! You are quite beautiful and you will still be beautiful no matter what you choose!

Hello, Jade.  I shaved my head when I got tired of looking at the bald patches, surrounded by hair. It was not a good look.  So, I shaved it all off (and never looked back).  A bald head looks so much better on me (I don't feel like I have a "condition" or "disease"), and combined with my wig cap, and a lightweight brown  stretch headband (to match my complexion), it makes wig wearing more secure for me.

Just remember to keep your bald head moisturized so you don't get "the itchies."

Oh...forgot to add that I wear the stretch headband under the wig, and over the wig cap.  The headbands cost $1.00 each, and I think they work just as well as the $20.00 "gel" bands that a lot of people wear to secure their wigs.
