Just discovered this site and decided to join. I am a 56 yr old male and lost my hair 4 yrs ago when my Dad died. I tried all the injections and acid treatments and steroids with obviously no effects. The good thing about the alopecia is that when I got it I was depressed about losing my Dad and during this time I quit doing the things I loved and got heavy and depressed. One day when getting out of the shower I looked in the mirror and saw a fat, bald guy and I got pissed. I thought I can't do anything about the bald but I can do something about the fat. The next day I joined the gym and haven't quit. I am in probably the best shape of my life. Ironically I owe it to the alopecia. I am however interested in getting some fake eyebrows . Does anyone know the best ones to get ?

Hi Tim,
Welcome to Alopecia World and congratulations on getting into shape.
You can get fake eyebrows online and experiment. I actually got mine tattooed and am very pleased.

Hi Tim,

If you go the tattoo route be very careful and selective of who you choose to do this or it could go very wrong.

Hello Tim,
Sorry about losing your father; but, congratulations on turning your life around through exercise which is good for us physically...and mentally. I'm slightly familiar with Bedford (beautiful Episcopal church) having graduated from DePauw University...thanks to an Indiana relative (John Meek) who graduated from the school and established a scholarship for his descendants...YAY! Tatooing may a good idea but remember these need to be touched up every few years due to fading. Happy Holidays (but refrain from the pecan pie):)...Susan

I do not have my eyebrows tattooed, mine grew in. But if you decide to go that route I would also ask for some before and after picture and/or references if available. So that you can see what kind of work they do. Good luck and congratulations on the healthy lifestyle. It looks good on you ;)

THere are some online sites where you can purchase eyebrows you 'glue' on. Several men on this site have tried them and posted pics and they looked good. It might be a way to go to get used to what you like. Take photos to the cosmetic tatoo artist so they see what you are talking about. I think it is harder to do a mans eyebrows as they are not 'pefect' the way women want ours to appear. Make sure you see before and after shots and make sure the ones you are looking at are the artist who is going to be doing yours - sometimes they show you a portfolio of the studio. Good luck.
