New human hair wig and need help with care and products

Hi

I have just purchased my first human hair wig, and am getting ready to wash it in the next couple of days.  I am very scared of the care of it, but have researched what other people use to shampoo and condition.  Can anybody tell me if I need to be doing something else? I have heard people use oil, but I don't know how often you should do this? how do you know when it needs it,  and also if you use heat what thermal protector do you use?

Thanks

Ruthie

I use pantene shampoo and conditioner with moisturizer in it. It smells good leaves the hair soft. Shampoo with Luke warm water hot might cause it to mat. Depending on the texture of hair I would only spray a leave in conditioner and comb through then allow to dry under a hooded dryer if the hair is synthetic be sure to dry on cool setting. If there is a curl or wave pattern to your wig a little product might be necessary on top of leave in so your curls will dry with frizz or tangles. You don't have to be aggressive when washing hold the wig by the top of it while you gently shampoo insuring that the hair is always flowing in the right direction. The more you scrub to get clean the more it might tangle so be easy having to comb out tangles will cause your wig to deteriorate quicker . Hope that helped visit my blog helpimlosingmyhair.com leave a comment.

Hi! I've worn human hair wigs for about 10 years. They are much more durable than you think! I was 11 when I had to start taking care of my own wig (instead of my mum washing it for me!) and if I could do it, you can do it. I just use whatever shampoo and conditioner is on special and I wash it in the shower holding it at the top of the wig and massaging the shampoo through the hair in a downwards direction so it doesn't tangle. You can use a hair dryer no worries. Hair straighteners are usually fine too! You'll love it. Enjoy!
