Nervous! TO shave or NOT to shave with the wig?

I just bought a wig (human hair) but its monofiliment I am not sure that is the best wig to get .... is it easy to wear do i shave my head with it? or do i leave hair so i can pin it in.. if so should i cut my hair short. ... Kinda freaking out because i wish i had someone with me that knows and has gone through this already to help me! My family is being supportive finally but, they don't know what is best or whatever!

please help me figure out if i should shave my head and still be able to have a stable monofil. wig! i want it to look as real as possible! so i don't want it to fall off or whatever!

IM SO NERVOUS.... i cried myself to sleep i don't want to mess it up and just have wasted $550 dollars ... i did go and get it fitted but i hadn't shaved my head yet so idk what to do ????? shave or no shave .... that is the question!

thank you ... that is what i have been reading online that it feels better with a shaved head! How does it stay on well? does it come off easily? or are there ways to make it stay on really well?

Check out the AW group Sisterhood of Women Who Shaved Their Heads for lots of positive words about this difficult decision. I felt much better once I shaved - you can see the photos of how much hair I had left when I did it - right about the same time I bought my first wig. In the end, wigs didn't work out for me, but they may be fine for you. The important thing is to feel comfortable with how you look. Good luck, Mary

It seem easier for women to get away with wigs. Common men's hair cuts show the hairline. Showing the hairline makes concealing tje wig dfficult.
Any good examples of AU or AT folks with convincing wigs?

emory...go to www.virghair.com the owner has virtual and looks great! one of our newscasters has it too! Ann..ive been wondering that too. it seems like it would be easier to not worry about the hair underneath and it may make the wig cooler to shave but it is a big decision!

I clip a wig onto the hair I have left and find it easier to deal with than tape or glue plus who needs another body part to worry about shaving all the time. I guess it's just whatever works for you.

Thank you Joy. Those wigs look great. I like that you can see the hair line and it looks natural. Those old male wigs that looked like having a rodent on your head made me choose to go without.

What about work? I make contact with a lot of people. Tough to explain showing up with hair one day! Did you go through this?
