I was just diagnosed about a month ago with A. Areata. It's so frustrating, I keep trying to see ways to improve this with nutrition, creams, meditation. I've read that it can be caused by stress and then on other sites it says it has no relevance. However about two months before this started I went through a tremendous stress at work. And I cannot help but think they are connected!
I just flew to Australia from Canada and came back a few days ago, while I was there I developed a painful leg and numb arms. At this point I believe it was from the lack of moving around since there are no signs of thrombosis. However both of my arms now are tingly and slightly sore. Of course online I found the autoimmune condition in which people can become paralyzed and I can usually start with tingling legs or arms so I am freaking out.
I feel like I'm falling apart, and the hair loss started it all. So far I have a bald patch on the back of my head just above my neck which is easy to hide but now I can see I'm starting one right at the top of my head near my forehead. I pray the Cortizone liquid I have will keep it in check but I have Will keep it in check but I have a feeling it will run its course regardless. I am glad I found this site, it is always better to know you are not alone.
The dermatologist was so matter of fact... I know it's not cancer, so I feel guilty complaining.. But I love my hair.
Thanks for reading my story.
