My body is starting to go through changes once again where I am beginning to loose the hair again...like my eyelashes. Not worried about my legs, that will just save me more time in not having to shave...lol But what is bothering me more is how my nails are becoming severely affected to the point where it hurts because they are sore. I have noticed the change in my nails within the past two weeks where the nail bed has become weak and my nails are breaking at the meat. I was reading on one website dermnetnz.org where it states that nail diseases affects between 10%-50% of people who have Alopecia Areata. Is there anyone else that are having issues with their nails? If so, what nail products do you use to strengthen your nails? I had teh piting and ridging and I was able to some Sally Hansen products to cover that up but I am experiencing a different type of nail changes.

JeffreySF, have you tried increasing the number of tablets you're taking for vitamin D? My doctor told me that taking 2000IU was not enough for my condition. When I start to see any changes from taking the high dosage vitamin D, will post them here.

Maybe I'll take a little extra.
Hope this works for you!

Hi everyone. I just wanted to give my update on the changes I see since taking Vitamin 50,000 mcg since June 4th. My nails are back to being healthy, tips are white, and they are growing. I do see tiny little hairs on my bottom eyelashes where I lost small chunks. I also see a difference in my energy levels. I am not feeling tired all the time as much as I did prior to taking the vitamin D. Now the hair on my head is still the same....nothing but very light & fine peach fuzz. It is so weird that I can not grow hair everywhere else on my body but my head. It's just crazy. Oh well. Along with taking my vitamin D, I also take a One A Day multiple vitamin and biotin 5000 mcg. Here is a pic of my nails..

Thanks. I have to admit that a little part of me was hoping to see some hair growth on my -head. But it's ok...life moves on :-)
