My name is Allie, and I am a wigaholic. I've been obsessed with wigs for a year and 8 months. I should join a support group. :) I do not want to say how many I have at the moment. Those who wear synthetic wigs know they don't last forever, so in my defense, I need new ones occasionally when one wears out.

I love the different styles and colors. When I find a style that I really like, I want the wig in blonde, brown and red! There are three wigs that I have in two colors each. I typically wear one to work during the week, and a different one on the weekend. I would wear different ones to work during the week, but I work with a lot of people now so I don't want to confuse people. I look really different when I am awearing a blonde wig from a red one so I want people to be able to recognize me. I know lots of people on this site go bald, but for me I feel like a wig makes me feel more feminine. I love to wear scarves too so when I'm not at work, I wear scarves a lot. I love that the synthetic wigs are affordable and put on and go. It only takes me 45 minutes to get ready for the day so I love that I can have pretty hair without having to do any work.

I know it can get expensive getting new wigs often, but if I had hair, I would be spending that money at a hair salon. Now, I no longer need to buy hair dryers or hair products! I'm sure the cost of those items and hair cuts total to what I spend on wigs. I am currently wearing the "Scorpio" by Revlon, and I love it. I just wish the synthetic wigs lasted forever. I get tired of some things easily so it is nice that I can change my look every so often, and even change my look during the week.

There are lots of pros and cons to wearing wigs. But I keep finding new wigs to try! I found a great website that has them at affordable prices otherwise, I probably wouldn't be a wigaholic! I am also a member of a wig support website so each time someone posts a picture of their new wig, I usually want to try it myself. Or sometimes I get emails about new wigs so that doesn't help either. Maybe I need to find a meeting group for my addiction. I can't help it, they make me feel good and boost my confidence! Maybe one day I will find the money to get a Freedom Wig from Kim. Until then... my addiction continues... I think I need a red version of my "Scorpio"...

I'm a total wig addict too :) I just have to buy a new one every 2-3 months. Right now I'm looking into purchasing Audrey by ROP. I'm currently wearing Codi.

Hey ladies ... your wig collections can be considerd ( in my opinion ) to be just like any of your other accessories.
Earrings , jewelry , handbags , sunglasses , belts , shoes , scarves and wigs !

I think thats great !

I am also a wigaholic... I get a new one every month or so. I too get synthetic wigs. I have had AU for just over two years and I have over 20 wigs. Most of my styles are the same, once in a while I will get one that is a little different. I think I keep buying them to try to make me feeling better about being bald.... It isn't really working....I will say the ONLY good thing about wearing wigs, I can shower and get dressed in 10 minutes, then choose what type of hair goes with my outfit that day...

Ohhh so glad i'm not alone in this, I love all my wigs, I have them from really short to really long, from straight, wavy,to really curly, but it's funny how I hate to wear them thinking i'm gonna ruin them :(( yet I have so many and double of each.

I love all of the ROP wigs. The Codi is really cute, and I haven't purchased that one yet.
RoBB... I completely agree! Mine are all stored with my clothes so they are definitely accessories!
Last weekend I went to an outlet mall, and found 3 new scarves. They are the best accessory. Sometimes I get more compliments on my scarves than anything else! (I wrote a blog about that not too long ago).
Linda... I'm sorry the wigs aren't helping you feel better about baldness. I hope you find what it is that will help you feel better. Getting rid of the hair on my head & wearing wigs both helped me.
Lisa... I'm like that with shoes. I don't want to wear my favorite ones because I don't want to wear them out. I don't have a curly one yet... I've been eyeing "Flutter" but not sure I would like it on me.

Tonight.....On Intervention....nah,just teasing.......the best advice I have ever seen in any "head" gear on Alopecia World is "Accessorize,Not Prioritize". I'm a computer-aholic myself, heh.
Hmm, one desktop, two laptops, one netbook, and one server.......all in my apartment........

:) I don't have a room for them but if I ever get to that point, I will need to be on the show. I am a mac-aholic. I have the Mac laptop, iPhone, and iPad and earlier today I was looking at the iMac... so I understand you being a computer-aholic.

I love my ROP wig too, it is the Shannon wig. I want to try it in different colors, have to look at the color chart next time I go. This is my first real set of wigs so I don't exactly know when it is time to replace them. Any pointers since it seems liek you are a wig pro =)

I am so glad to know that I am not in this alone. I can't tell you how many wigs I have purchased. I have given some away to friends who are undergoing chemo, I have donated some, and right now I have over 30. I try to rationalize that I would be spending that much in the beauty salon if I did have hair. I also have some that I bought that I really don't like and wonder why did I buy them. Sometimes they are not the right color, etc. I have the Gala by Gabor in the brown, blonde, and red. I have to wear synthetic wigs since I live in NC (the humidity state). I love the fact that I can be dressed and out the door in 30 minutes and always thought if my hair ever grew back that I would still continue to wear wigs because of the convenience. I'd always heard all my life that if you put on a million dollar dress and your hair didn't look good, then you wouldn't feel like you looked good.
