I can't help but worry! I have been pretty strong through out this whole alopecia deal, but if my baby boy has to go through it, thats gonna kill me!! I secretly wanted a girl for this reason only...because Im afraid that if they dont have hair, a girl can wear wigs, ect. I know a boy can too, but it seems harder to hide with a boy. It's not something that I think about everyday, not stressing too much, but it lingers in my mind. If it happens, Ill be as strong as possible, but Ill feel so bad inside ; (

So few people get alopecia. Both of my sons and my grandson got nice, straight hair. No alopecia.

I have 2 daughters and they both have full heads of hair - even so, if your child has alopecia you need to do your best to help them be accepting of it. alopecians are our own worst critics- the fact is most people aren't bothered wether we have hair or not.
Addmittedly, I had the same panic through both of my pregnancies, what if they're like me, it'll be all my fault but it is not my fault I have alopicia and lack of hair doesn't make me less of a mother.

You'll do great and be strong whatever, the next worry is will they get bullied at school cause their mum has no hair lol - but the answer is no they wont!

Chin up and start looking at the positives of this next exciting chapter in your life xxx

When I was about 2 yrs old I was diagnosed with AA,when I was 12-13 it turned into AT and by the time I was 16 I had AU. I don't know if it has any relevance but I have 2 little boys, My first who lost all of his hair by age 2.5. When we brought him to the dermatologist she said that based on the severity of my condition that I should expect Mason to be the same. I never thought once to hide it and everyday we treat exactly the same because we don't want him to have the same insecurities many people with Alopecia go through. My second boy is 2, we've noticed a little spot that is the size of a dime on the back of his head, but it seems to be growing back in. The best thing you can do is know that if your child gets Alopecia is to help them learn to accept it so we can teach others to accept us. My oldest is now 3.5 years old, he doesn't see himself as different in any way. If someone should point out he's bald he doesn't even take notice because it really don't bother him. For myself I think it was a blessing he got it so young because now he just see how he is now as him, and I must say he is beautiful. Don't stress about if it happens which I have been told is very rare there's nothing you can do to change it but you can affect how he see's himself in the world.
