If you have a huge head like I do, it is SO hard to find hats. And especially if you're looking for regular hats in Winter. Everything we saw was either too small, or too wintery.
It seems that since I've been diagnosed with AA, everyone in my family is treaating me differently. Sometimes I just want to be treated like someone that isn't losing their hair. My friends are being super-cool about it, and they actually treat me better than my family. Its a little strange, but once everyone learns what the heck is going on, things will get back to normal.
I was looking up celebrities with AA or AT or even AU, and apparently Bruce Willis has it. Julie Andrews is alwo rumored to have it too, but I'm not sure about that one.
I went to my little sisters band concert, and there was a boy playing clarinet that looked like he had alopecia areata. The spots looked a lot like mine, but I didn't say anything. I don't even know the kid. Haha.

Hi Leah - congrats on the new post! It's been a while since I've put one out there, so may do that soon. As one who also has a HUGE head, I can relate on your hat comments. It's never an easy thing to buy hats or caps...can NEVER order online since I'll never know if they fit. And with my AA, I'm very anxious about trying hats on in the store. I make sure there's no one looking before I do as to not draw attention to my spots. Sucks doesn't it? Anyway, hope you're doing well!

Leah,
I've also discovered that I need big hats. My new favorite online hat shop is http://delmonicohatter.com/.
They stock a lot of large size hats and have a great selection. I am wearing XXL hats and don't have any trouble finding hats that fit there. They seem to provide excellent service as well.

Best wishes to you!
Jeff

Hi Leah! I love the conversation you have started about 'head size!' I have the opposite problem...little peanut head! Most hats fall down over my eyes. When I look at folks with perfectly bald heads that are beautiful I think, "ohhh, nice head!"
I'm sorry to hear that you feel like folks are treating you differently. I understand because all we want is a little respite sometime to remember that all else in life is normal. Please let me forget, or not care, or whatever, right? I feel fortunate because I'm older and I have many male friends who are losing their hair to male pattern baldness. When I told them I am losing my hair, they have all said, "Yeah? Me, too!" And we laugh together about our balding heads. Maybe Alopecia World can give you that same support..."Yep..losing hair. So, what else is new with life?" :-)
Hope you are having a great day today! And I hope you get that punky cut soon!
