I just watched Shrek again while teaching, and had the thought that many women and girls on AW are stressing like Fiona...afraid of what nightfall will reveal. Are we thinking that we will become ogres (or, Cinderellas) when the wig and make-up come off? What, or who, are we missing when so absorbed, besides our own true, raw selves? We may not be noticing REAL people while waiting for hair magic to happen. Personally I am getting used to my current incarnation at night. Who ever said I "should" always be what I once was, physically or emotionally? I am far better than I was at 17, in many ways, even with less hair!

That movie meant a lot to me. I especially loved the fact that she did not turn into a "beautiful" princess at the end but a beautiful Ogre that Shrek still loved. I think I was expecting the "usual" and was very presently surprised.

Sort of like that story I put on your blog, Johnny Lingo and the Eight Cow Wife. Shrek and Johnny Lingo both saw the true beauty of their women. (Google that story, folks.)

This blog brings us a good point Tallgirl. I don't know when it happened, but then again I have had alopecia for over 20 years ;). But somewhere along the way I stopped comparing myself to the woman I was with hair. What do you think your turning point was?

I think mine was when I got the hot blond wig summer of 2010, because it looked natural to others and professional, age-appropriate, etc. (unlike many of my other wigs). As to the evening hours and baring-it-baldly aspects, that came about with encouragement during my 2011 vacation. ;)

Those free-spirited vacations, will get you every time. I did a similar thing during a vacation in Florida.
