So I have finally started exercising regularly and am wondering how others handle it.  I hate how I feel sweating with a wig on.  I am trying to look around for other options for covering but what have found few options.  What are others doing?  Any thoughts will be appreciated.  Thanks!

Hi Stephanie, I shaved my hair off, but I still need to cover my head since I run outside and need UV protection. I have been wearing a Buff. Check them out. They come in many styles and are extremely versatile.

I do the same. I wear a Buff made into a turban style or a BeauBeau. I love BeauBeaus for the weekends too, but I am pretty open about my alopecia and like to be comfy. I like he rayon beaubeau better than the exercise materials.

If you can, skip the wigs on exercising. When I used to wear a wig, I just took my hair off in the dressing room in front of others, if nothing else, the stares you get are priceless, people around you really get thrown out of their Comfort zones. Otherwise, swmimmingcaps are good, and all kinds of bandanas, but swimming without anything on your head is really cool.

I use the Buff.  I am a runner.  The Buff s made out of a material that absorbs the sweat and keeps it away from your head.  Other materials remain wet..running/exercising with a wet cold head is not fun!

Hi Stephanie,  If I am not sweating too much, I will just go bare.  Otherwise I found a scarf worked the best, it kept the sweat out of my eyes.  I really finding that people do not tend to stare or re-act to seeing a bald woman as much as they used to in the past.  Good luck!

Hey Stephanie,

The feeling of freedom I found was when I let go of worrying. I had major anxiety and I really allowed Alopecia to keep me inside of my house, never leaving my comfort zone. I ended up getting really pale from never going outside and becoming my own prisoner. I look back now- and wish I never had waited so long to walk outside and live as people only worried as much as I worried. I once heard a quote "Whether you think you can or you can't, You're right."

When I was 12 with Alopecia and my mom allowed me to become homeschooled I devoted my life and teenage years to figure this disease out so that when I got my hair back (and I did) than I could share it with everyone who feels exactly like I felt. I hope you find this helpful as my goal is to inspire :)

Thanks everyone!  I appreciate the help and the suggestions.  I haven't yet tried a scarf or anything that looks like that...but I think I am ready to.  And this itchy sweaty wig just is not cutting it :-)
