I am having trouble with posting in the forums section and thought I would try here instead.

My question: Is it possible to successfully color the white regrowth?

In the past I have only tried Henna and it made my white hairs turn yellow, hence looking more obvious than the white regrowth. I have a large patch at the top of my head up front which has been preventing me from cutting bangs since I need every hair on my head to cover up missing patches at the moment. I use barrettes and bobby pins at times and now that the weather is cooling off, I can resume wearing hats. The white regrowth is pretty massive and it is taking a long time to change over to my natural color...I am at about 3 inches of regrowth right now up there.

I would appreciate any advice you may have. Thanks!

what did you do to cause the regrowth? anything different? How long did it take for it to start growing?

I used to dye my white temple hair and sideburns to match my wigs.

My advice is dont color them .You dont wanna damage the best thing thats happening to you.Think on the long term.

My dermatologist said there was no problem dying the regrowth. Go to someone that knows what they are doing. I had this conversation about a year ago when I had some regrowth...I had a flare and lost it all before I had a chance to colour it...:(

before my most recent shedding I was having my hair colored at a salon that used color without peroxide, it was much gentler on the hair and made it feel and look much better. I didn't have any more shedding after the color than I did any other time. Hope this helps. My dermatologist told me to just not go crazy with different colors.

Thanks for the replies!

Jason -- I get Kenalog injections every few weeks only on the patches of missing hair. It doesn't work for everyone but I have had success with it for the last 6 years.

The white regrowth is quickly changing over to my natural color but is becoming very obvious since it is up front. I suppose I could ask my hair stylist to help me again but the first time she tried it did not work....she uses Davines products.

If anyone can suggest something I could try at home, that would be great...and I am only trying to dye the white regrowth, not the rest of my hair, I am planning to stop at Whole Foods and see if they can help me....but, no henna, because that did not work correctly.

Thanks!!

Ugh, had Kenalog injections today in three different places on my scalp. OUCH!!!!!!!!
