As I took off my wig last night and stared in the mirror, I realized that my hair has started to grow back a lot more thicker than I can remember in years. Not to say that it's a full head of hair, it's far from it--about maybe 5% of my original hair. For the most part, my hair usually grows back in two or three chunks from the top of my head before it falls out again, but the hair is actually staying in place this time.

I was washing my wig earlier and it occurred to me that I don't remember what it was like to wash/shampoo/blow dry my natural hair because I haven't had it for so long. I can't even remember what it's like to brush my hair without having to hold onto the top of it so it won't slide off my head! In the future, if my hair grows back, will it seem weird/unnatural?

I had been considering shaving my head earlier this summer, but now that I see my hair not falling out rapidly again, a little bit of hope fills me inside again. Should I leave it alone and hope it doesn't continue to fall out? Or when I go back to Miss Peggy in September for my new wig, should I ask her to shave my head too?

You said only 5% has grown back. Does the rest of your head show signs of regrowth? Any fuzz?

Who in the world is "Miss Peggy", I've heard that name mentioned a few times on the site and I often wonder is she some sort of miracle wig maker???? 5% regrowth is a whole lot when you don't have any, I guess. I have AA, three spots, two on the sides and one huge one in the back. In over 40 years I've never seen regrowth on those spots, but my natural thick, coarse hair has thinned and I'm rockin' the bald look and lovin' it...so far. That said, do what makes you the most comfortable, that's what life's about, content, comfort, control of your life.

There's some fuzz near the top but other than that, nothing.

Miss Peggy runs Peggy Tom & Associates in San Francisco. She's a cancer survivor and specializes in human hair wigs. She's also the most adorable 70+ year old Asian lady! She's just so full of life and so energetic--I've known her for about seven years now and she also makes me smile. =)

That's a very personal choice to shave or not to shave. I guess the deciding factor for me was if there wasn't enough hair to do anything with it and cover the spots, then I'd shave, and I did.
