In the store (keep in mind I'm currently in a town of 12,000 people) I turned down an aisle (the one with asian/mexican foods) and came straight across another woman with alopecia (which I have never done in person before not even living in a city with millions). She was with her childern and (unlike me at that time in the morning) absolutely STUNNING! So what happened you're probably wondering by now...

Nothing ... I grabbed my nori and rice vinegar and continued on my way.

Now I feel like a complete ASS

Similar situation happened to me too.
Mind you I live in a San Francisco but I was in this wine shop and there was this man who obviously had AA. I said hello to him and he looked at me and just sort of left the shop in a hury.
I felt kinda like an ass like I outted him or something. lol

Maybe you will run in to her again with a diffrent outcome.

I know, huh?! What do you say to another complete strager who happens to have AA? It's not particularly an appropriate introduction, "Hi my name is Sarah and I'm bald too!" I wouldn't know what to say either. I remember once when I was at the store I noticed a young gal who obviously had a wig on. All I could do is just look at her. I was trying not to stare, but I couldn't help it. I didn't say anything to her either. What do you say?

Yeah that's a funny situation. I saw someone myself who I thought might have AA, but then I think to myself...maybe I shouldn't say anything because maybe it isn't AA at all. I just got nervous that maybe they had a different condition and I would offend them.

When i was about 15 i used to go and dry my mums washing (i say my mums but it was mine, my sisters, my dads) at the laundrette and i used to sit with a woman who was in her 40s who wore a bandana but was obviously bald at first we never spoke just sat and she would read sunday papers and i would read a book, when one day she said to me do you have a wig only my daughter knows you from school and told me you have alopecia, me bein 15ish and her being 40ish was like errrrr yeah!! then she told me she had alopecia also and from that day we became unlikely friends just becaause we had this thing between us, she was my launderette friend, then one day my mum finally bought a dryer and i never saw her after that, i saw her daughter who knew me from school but she was a few years older so didnt really have much to do with her.
But the few sundays i did spend in the launderette with this lady made my time there enjoyable. Thanks mrs launderette woman if you read this ever!!
