Wow, is all I think each time we look on this site. I am still in awe for all of you wonderful people. I wanted to post an update on the dilema that Nicky is facing at school. It seems as if this site as opened up a new world for Nicky. He doesn't concentrate on his alopecia as much anymore since he has seen a whole world of people that live with his diagnosis. It seems as if when he gained more self confidence/self acceptance that his peers accepted him more. Things are going better for him. Thanks you to everyone that took the time to respond to him.

I am proud that Nicky has accepted his condition and is more confident, when you have confidence, people feel it and they respect it. We are here for Nicky and you, we're family here. Way to go, Nicky!

Hi Carrie, I'm so happy to hear things are going so much better for Nicky. Casey has found great strength from knowing about htis site as well. In fact, I was reading one of your posts not long ago when Casey walked by and saw your son's picture. He asked me who it was and I went to your bio and told him a little about Nicky. It's very important that these kids realize they are not alone. Since then I make sure to "introduce" him to other kids on the site by reading him their bios as well. This site has definatley changed our lives in so many positive ways even in just the short time that we have been here. I have learned a lot about my son's situation, my son, myself and how important connections are in our lives. I have always been a firm believe in the saying "God never gives us more than we can handle" and also that "there is a reason for everything". I think my son will come out of this a very strong person filled with empathy and self-confidence. Perhaps that's the "reason".

Carrie, Samantha was happy to read your update about Nicky..She was very excited to send him a letter and looks forward to him getting it this week. Sam is a free spirit and speaks from the heart and is not afraid to have her voice heard...Keep that in mind when Nicky reads her letter.Way to go Nicky!!!.Cindy

Carrie, That is such good news that Nicky has started to accept his condition, the thing is no one knows how hard it is to live with Alopecia except the ones living with it. My oldest son reminded me of that this morning. Nicky is such a handsome boy, i also think him having no hair makes his beauty stand out even more. Tell Nicky that we are proud of him and to stay strong...Maria
