WIGOLOGY 101

Hello,

I've been thinking about the years I've worn wigs, hairpieces and after reading some of the blogs and pages here, I thought it would be a good idea to share my knowledge, advice, skills, etc with you all. Below are some of the sites I've shopped at and still shop at when needed. Also, I've rated them, please add your sites and advice. I think this would be helpful to those newly diagnosed who… Continue

I've gone National...kinda!

Hey Fam, I'm on a National committee for the federal government, it is the National Civil Rights Leadership Committee. I received a notice that it is time to update the picture on our website and poster. After pondering for hmmm, let me see, 2 seconds, I decided to send a shot of the "GREAT BALDINI" aka me with my new Bald look. The poster is displayed throughout the country in every state, area office, the website is seen by thousands of employees. I expect I'll get questions, so far I've only… Continue

For the Record: It's been about two months since I shaved my head and...

Being Bald is Wonderful, I don't know how I survived this long without shaving my head. I've learned so much about myself and others, especially as it relates to Baldness. Here's a list of a few of the amazing things I've learned about being Bald:

1. Alway use a multi-blade shaver (three blades or more) to shave your head, not only are they great for a smooth shave, but they will not nick and cut you like the single or double bladed cheapies. I learned this the hard way, I was scheduled to… Continue

Right to Know...

Why do people think they have the right to know what happened to your hair? I mean, I understand family members and close friends, but not people you see while walking down the street or shopping or going to a movie. Why do people think they can come right up and demand "what happened to your hair"? Concern is one thing, nosey is another. It's like they stare, then they walk right up and ask, when you give them a flippant answer they are hurt. They never think about how embarassing it may be… Continue

Being Bald is Bliss...I'm so free!

So, it's been a week and 5 days since I shaved my head and I feel great! Check my "Independence Day" blog, I should have done this long ago...I've lived over 40 years with AA, trying medicine, injections, wearing wigs and weave, hairpieces, extensions, etc. and now I'm truly free to be me. Shaving my head was a celebration for my 4 daughters, my son, my grand girls, my man and other family members. My children and grand girls all participated in shaving my head and my man keeps it manicured (it… Continue

Independence Day...

Saturday was my day of Independence, after having AA for more than 40 years, I decided to shave my head bald, thus freeing myself from wigs, weaves and haircovers. The feeling was exhilarating, it was a celebration of all that I am, especially, a "free bird". My 4 daughters, my son, 3 grand daughters and 2 son-in-laws were all a part of the celebration, each taking a turn to cut strands of hair from my head before my son, shaved it bald. I will post before and after pictures shortly. My bald… Continue
