First bald photo shoot & a declaration of my rights

Here’s how my rights work…

I have the right to my own body,

to the expressions I make,

to the decision to smile or not to smile,

to flatter you or not flatter you.

I have the right to have hair or not and still be beautiful,

I have the right to make myself into a canvas-

of emotions, of color, or…

Intimacy and owning my body

Some of my most liberated sexual experiences have come from owning my beauty as a bald woman and partnering with people who appreciate how much I appreciate myself. Honestly, I think I learned to love myself more by the blessing of my current boyfriend who first offered to shave my head for me and then teach me how to do it myself. It's quite a special feeling for him to rub my head, especially when I'm sad…or when he's just adoring me.

I definitely don't let just anyone touch my…

Select spiritual spaces and "coming out bald"?

Hi everyone, I wanted to share for those who are kinda interested in not wearing wigs, or possibly looking for 'safe spaces to try,' I've had  a good experience while doing/taking yoga more seriously. My yoga studio has a blend of locals and young professionals who in one way or another have tattoos, piercings, natural hair (culturally-specific reference), crazy color dyed hair, or some other thing that makes me read these strangers as "safely decent people" …I wrote more about that …

Encounters with strangers … sometimes they're good =)

"Bald by chance or choice?"

An older white woman asked me this at Kinko's. She was a cancer survivor and told me she's always curious to ask other bald women their stories. She had a short gray/white pixie cut since her hair had grown back. I responded to her question by saying "well, a mix of both …hit a hair loss limit and decided to shave the rest." She gave me quite the compliment. We never exchanged names, we continued with our copies, and offered each other "a nice day." Aside…

Finding courage & adventure: Dear TSA, Please don't require me to remove my wig 0.o

I have always been a traveler. I love everything about new places, from finding a random movie theater in Wisconsin to eating at a great restaurant in Puerto Rico. I love just people watching. I would pack my bag, throw on my wig, and jump in my car/get on a plane. I'm that free-spirited, get up and go with just a small bag type.

Well, one of the things I started to notice was that as our country cracks down on national security, TSA/Airport personnel were starting to check for…

Finding courage & adventure - Being young, hot, & an alopecian, Part 1

It will be four years in December since I shaved my head. Attempting to balance school, beauty standards, shame, and being in an emotionally and mentally abusive relationship, finding self-acceptance while having alopecia has not been easy. After one huge argument with the guy I was dating, I decided I just needed to be free. While the option should have been to break up with this guy forever, I decided to buy a pair of clippers and loose myself of the beautiful natural hair that I often…

I'm warming up to this site

Hi everyone!

I'm warming up to this site. I'm happy to have found it and wish I knew about it earlier. I'm nervous, I'm affirmed ... and I'm making sense of them together.

Thanks for being brave enough to share your stories and allowing me to see myself in those stories. I plan to share a photo soon.

Thanks (and please share all your love)
