Update - I hope this gives you hope!

Hi Everyone!!

I have thought long and hard about updating on Alopecia World - I didn't want to upset anyone with my good news...but then thought...HEY...If this could give even one person a bit of hope...it's very much worth it!!

The good news is that I have 100% complete regrowth. I shaved my head on January 24th 2009, and by October 2009, the last patch had grown over.

One year later, I am patch free and just waiting for my hair to grow long again. I still… Continue

There is hope!

I thought I would give everyone an update on the AA progress....

Since I stopped using the clobetasol cream...my hair has started to grow back. I started out with 16 patches...and am now left with 2 - one of which is very small on the back of my head, and the other is the very first patch that started. It grew to a lovely 4 inches...and is now about the size of a canadian nickel. I have had complete hair regrowth in all other patches. I have hair growing in the last two patches - some of… Continue

Attitude

ATTITUDE

There once was a woman who woke up one morning, looked in the mirror, and noticed she had only three hairs on her head.

Well, “she said, “I think I’ll braid my hair today” So she did and she had a wonderful day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and saw that she had only two hairs on her head. “H-M-M, “ she said

“I think I’ll part my hair down the middle today” So she did and she had a grand day.

The next day she woke up, looked… Continue

Five patches...Those were the "OLD" days!!

So...I was looking back into my older blogs and noticed my last one is Titled "Five Patches and Counting"...

Well...That was soooo last year! LOL.

After I shaved my head - It looked a lot worse then I originally thought. I think I counted around 16 small patches. I still have the first large one on the top of my head, but a bunch of smaller ones have joined the army.

But...I tried doing a "pull" test last night with some tweezers (since it's too short to pull with my… Continue

Five patches and counting...

So...I'm ordering my wig tonight. I found 3 more patches starting - which gives me a total of 5...that I know of.

Does anyone else experience a pain sensation at the site of a patch? My big spot hurts to touch it. And it seems itchy a lot.

Has anyone ordered from wigs.com? I found a wig on there that was very close to my normal hair style - and the price seems to be average.

I hope somebody can help me with this - as I plan to order within the next hour...

I can't wait… Continue

No Coverage?? This seems silly!

So, after i became excited about deciding to shave my head - I immediately started to inquire about insurance coverage...only to become frustrated with it!!

My employment benefits will not cover anything. I called up social assistance to see if they help out...they don't. They gave me a number for "assistive" something ( I can't remember it now)...they don't cover wigs at all. I have been looking all over for some sort of relief, but can't find anything.

Canada must have something for… Continue

Going, going, gone!!!

Well...It's official, I have decided to shave my head. This decision was made after I noticed my second patch starting last night.

I know that some people would suggest I keep my hair and wait - but I have allowed my hair loss to consume me and my emotions. I still have yet to fully come to terms with this challenge - But honestly, do most people slowly peel off a bandaid that's sitting snuggly on your skin, or do you quickly rip it off? I prefer not to let this AA control me. I don't want… Continue

Support is overwhelming here!

Well, I have been on this site for about 2 days now - and I must say...the support is very impressive!

The past two days have been a little better, mentally. You know, all the sites say that Alopecia does not cause any medical issues, except emotional or mental, and man...they weren't kidding eh?

I guess what they say is true..."The things that do not kill us, will only make us stronger"...How so very true.

I had struggles, many struggles before the AA started - which could be a… Continue

Here goes...

So...December 10th is when it started...

It's now January 12th, and I have finally been given the diagnoses of having AA. The patch started out about the size of a dime...

Now it's about 2.5 inches around, at the top of my head. I haven't noticed any other spots.

I am now using the steriod topical cream. Has anyone had success with this?

I have considered shaving my head - because I'm really tired of obessing over how many hairs will fall out at one time.

I'm feeling… Continue
