AA & celiac's?

So a few months ago while reading a passage from a gastroenterology textbook, I came across mention of an association between alopecia areata and Celiac's disease. I have had undiagnosed gastrointestinal issues (primarily chronic abdominal pain episodes) and found this interesting. Does anyone here have GI issues as well? Anyone with confirmed diagnosis of Celiac's disease? I just wondered what the actual prevalence of patients with both conditions was.

Alopecia areata & celiac's disease?

Running into an alopecian

I was just vaguely reminiscing in the old days at my old workplace.. I was a customer service associate (cashier) at a tech store. During those days I was at my worst. Happy Easter

Hey guys, long time no see. I hope everyone's had a good day. I just had an Easter egg hunt. As for my progress with Alopecia, I've been off the hormone meds and hair is still growing back thick and long. Inside I still feel insecure now and then, and paranoid that I'll lose it all over again. I guess the first battle's the toughest. But keep on being strong everyone. You may have Alopecia, but Alopecia doesn't have you. Be strong, because you're all beautiful!

Back from the dermatologist...

My hair's growing back. I can finally get off the cortisone treatment. As for the acne side effect from the medicine, I get to start another medicine. Yippee! Be strong, have hope. =D

I panicked and went to the doctor, who misdiagnosed it as a fungal infection. He prescribed me some pricey (and pointless) medicine. A few months later, when it was clear it wasn't stress-induced or fungal-caused hair loss, I went to a different doctor who suggested Alopecia, and recommended I see a dermatologist.… Continue
