It's our inner beauty that counts?

If there is one belief that I would really like to see us alopecian challenge, is when we start referring to our inner beauty as if our outer beauty couldn’t exist anymore.

I think that the thing that brings me the most joy is when an alopecian can truly start to see their beauty again. But, over and over again, I see us making comments like, “it’s our inner beauty, not our outer beauty that counts”, as if we have forfeit our rights to be beautiful the moment we lost our…

Love is not a follicle thing

When my boyfriend and I started dating, he nicknamed me ‘Blondie’ and told me he loved my hair.

Three months into the relationship, I discovered my first bald patch. It didn’t even occur to me not to tell him - I rang him in a panic, blurting that my hair was falling out.

He knows more than anyone how important hair can be - he adores his wild mop of curls and spends a small fortune on products. After listening to me freaking out, he gave me a hug and accompanied me to the… Continue

Change hurts. Birth was painful too

Just an introduction blog. I was a bald baby! Haha. My mother said that when I was a new born, I looked her right in the eyes, that the expression in my eyes looked "adult". She used to tell me that she thought I was switched with a fairy baby or was an alien in another life, lol... in fact, she claimed that she once had a crazy lady (who thought she was a psychic, or vice versa) tell her that I was an alien in a past life, from another planet. She always told me this with an added touch of… Continue

The lady that sits next to me!

To the lady that sits next to me on the bus,I would have never known if you hadn't opened up. I'm sure that it was not easy for you to do. I must tell you, you're closer today than you were yesterday, just the fact that you was able to say"I have Alopecia too". Alopecia is not always an easy subject for those of us who has not find the Freedom of being without hair vs being with hair. I too was once in a world of fear, but thank God I'm Free at last. My prays is for you and everyone else to one… Continue

Sick of it!

I am so sick and tired of being depressed. I have had Alopecia Universalis of 11 years now and I am still morning the loss of the old person I used to be. I was finally coming to terms about being bald and my neice had an alopecia scare. She woke up with a huge bald spot on the top of her head. My brother and sister in law were mortified. Everyone was so worried. They took her to Texas childrens hospital to see the dermatologist and they said it was a scalp infection. I was so happy to hear… Continue

The beast is growing

Hey...

So, I can't decide if I'm happy that I haven't lost all of my hair yet, or if I wish it would just all fall out. Which would you prefer?

People stare... they probably don't mean anything by it, but it affects me. My doctor is so ambivalent about the whole issue; He just sorta looks at it every check up and is like "nothing to worry… Continue

In the arms of God, it's where I want to be, it's where I want to live, and spend eternity. I wanna hold his hands, cause He's the only man, that can hold the blue print of my life, in His hands.
