Where acceptance is all there is
Hi I am a herbalist and treating a female patient with FFA, aged 68.
I wondered if there are any people with FFA who also take HRT, nasal sprays for rhinitis or any other condition, or medication for glaucoma?
If there are, would you mind telling me if you feel any of this medication has madeyour condition worse or better, or just whether you take the medication and also have FFA?
Also, do any forum members have any food intolerances?
If so, how long ago…Continue

Is it just me or does anyone else wanna throw something at the t.v. whenever one of those shampoo commercials come on? I am starting to really dislike those women featured in them. Grrr...show offs.
Hi everyone I'm new on here first day. Ok here's my story last September first week 2014. My only brother took his own life massive shock and deep sadness for me couple weeks later first patch on head appeared. As weeks went on more patches within 5 weeks all hair on my head fell out. Lost good bit of body hair ( wasn't very hairy anyway). Then eyelashes in one eye started falling out 80% next small bits of eyebrows. Buy December new white hair started to grow back on my head I think totally…Continue
I'm new to this, they haven't even diagnosed me yet but one thing is for sure, I had, up until 4 weeks ago beautiful, thick and curly hair. I've lost more then half all over and now I'm noticing thinning spots around my temples and the rest of my hair line. And what's scary is I'm watching it get thinner and thinner. It's fast man. My hair is everything to me, to me it makes me. After a slew of blood tests, and tons of questions my dermatologist is very curious about me and my symptoms. I've…Continue
Oops I'm late again.
Okay, it's been 8 years since I found that little bald spot on me. July 5, 2007
Big Rollercoaster Ride for sure those first couple of years. The ups and the downs and all the sideways.
Thanks Alopecia World Members of past, future and present!
And thank you www.naaf.org.
I'm enjoying the ride these days but when does the ride end?
I am new to this and have a 12 year old and his hair is rapidly leaving before our eyes. A friend of mine sends her 12 year old to Colombia Presbyterian in NYC and the treatment there is shots every two weeks. I am on the west coast and doctors advise every 4 weeks. Does anyone have info about this? Her dr. claims the frequent shots can help shut down the immune reaction and actually help stop the loss as it is occurring. She is quite a respected dermatologist and I dont…Continue

Do anyone know of a cure for alopecia? I have heard that some medicines can reverse alopecia, but so many on the market and I wonder do they work. I also heard that vagina yeast cream have grew peoples hair back I never tried it but I am going to. I guess when you are desperate you try anything.
I am 37 and have had alopecia since i was 16. For the most part, I have been lucky. Id only have a quarter size patch underneath u couldnt see...until 3 years ago when i had breast reduction surgery for which i was anesthetized. I know there is a connection to this, but not my main focus here. In the last several months i have been sticking to a strict vitamin regimen. I believe the MSM portion has helped me grow much of my hair back. I have been on the fence waiting for Xeljanz or…Continue
Hi all, We are looking for a friend with alopecia for our daughter who is six years old and going into first grade. We live in Plantation, FL and have only met a few people with alopecia. I want my daughter to have a friend she can share her strength and weaknesses with, a child that will understand and hopefully be friends with for life. We all know how difficult it is to have alopecia and in our daughters case, Universalis. I try to be everything for her but I know she needs someone her…Continue
Not sure if I am in the right place, I saw there was an area for parents. My son is 12 and is losing large areas of hair now on the side of his head - it happened rather slowly, and we thought it was triciliomania, since he was pulling it. Now however it is coming out in clumps. I am trying not to alarm him, but it seems to only be speeding up. We see new dermatologist tomorrow and he is on a steroid creme, but I just want it to stop and it seems to be only getting worse. I…Continue
So, the obsession begins again.
I look in the mirror as I brush my hair. I see the balding spots. I touch the top of my head. I feel my scalp and my fingers easily can feel it through the thin hair. I remember the time when I got my hair cut short to try to make it look thicker. My husband gave me a disappointed look when I returned home. Hes told me plenty of times how much he loves my hair and redhead in general. Don't get me wrong, he really is a great guy...but.....it saddens me…Continue
Last week my daughter Olivia and I were at Sally beauty supply. As we were checking out the clerk said to my 6 year old "You have pretty eyes , despite your condition" I felt my daughter deflate in front of me. I led Olivia out of the store and turned around and reamed the clerk "How dare you say this to a child" We both left the store in tears.
Last week I called the corporate office and posted on their fb page. They offered us a $10 gift card. LOL I said no. I had briefly…Continue

I'm getting my hair cut on the 20th. I've decided to go with a super short pixie. I've been wearing my hair pulled back this week to get a feel for it. No hiding! I just went to the Wegman's and a woman smiled at me pointed to her head, and said " I like your hair." Yeah! Right now, there are a ton of women without hairloss getting undercuts and shaving off parts of their hair. When you "own" a look it becomes part of who you want to be. This is who we are. …Continue
