I wear turbans everydya in my house which I dont ususally like cause I am afraid to wear my wigs.
I get worried if I wear a wig and rest my head on the back of the couch it will mess up,afraid it will damage faster, and also cause I smoke, even thou it's only me that smokes I smoke rarely.
How can I be afraid to wear a wig in my own house? Am I being weird here?

So when I went back in February and got my first wig, I went to the salon recommended by my aunt who wears a topper. I liked the hairstylist and she made me feel very comfortable with taking the step I did. I liked my first wig, but it just wasn't fitting me or my head right.
So I found a few wig shops that were down the street from that salon which is about a half hour away from me that my mom and I were going to check out today. I had heard that there was a wig shop close to me, but I… Continue

Finallly decided to have a great time and have some wine, Feels quite good and takes away some of my pain that I feel. You see I dont only have alopecia but i have dealt with many turmoils over my life since the age of 2, and I supose I just can't understand why God keeps putting me through all this turmoil in life. All I ever wanted as child is to live a normal life and it's just not happening!
Now I am an adult trying to deal with the pain of no hair.sometimes it's ok but other times I… Continue

So I've met up with my dermatologist last wednesday to review on my progress.
I've been doing DCP treatment for a month now, using the lowest dosage of DCP solution (0.0001)
So I told the doc about my unpigmented fuzz on my scalp, and he told me that its still to early to tell. He told me it will be good if they continue to growing longer, denser and thicker into real hair.
Then he reminded me that I still have to be prepared that I may not have regrowth / have… Continue

So I thought I found the perfect wig. I finally started to look like me again and I was so happy for the few days I wore it. Well, after about three days of wearing it, it started falling apart. The ends are so dry and I can't even get the wig comb through it. It's synthetic and it cost almost $400. I can't afford to keep buying wigs. I tried washing as the directions said. It's drying on the wig stand. Just looking at makes me want to cry. It's probably going to look even worse now that I've… Continue

I happened to see a commercial for the new singing competition show, The Voice. I watched it several times on my DVR because part of the way through it, they show what appears to be a bald or shaven-headed woman contestant. On the official website for the show, they have a trailer and at 0:24 in the trailer, there's a quick shot of the woman. The show premiers April 26 on NBC. The "twist" is apparently that the judges/mentors don't see the contestants before judging their vocal talent.

I was just wondering if there's anyone in the Hotel and Tourism / Hospitality Management field with AU and with some much needed advise. I've been bald a very long time now , finally at the age of 26 I am at a point where I do not feel like wearing hair but I'm scared that I will not be able to be hired because I may be viewed as sick or strange looking. Anyone else with experiences in the work force or some advice for me??

I want to thank every single person that commented on my blog posting today. I was having a pity party and you guys really helped to squash it. I know my friend loves me like a sister and only wants the best for me but she does not understand. Tact is not one of her strong points. She has a FULL head of hair, I mean FULL, she has so much hair it has to be thinned out. A concept I can not even grasp. She just doesn't understand. I guess unless you have had to try and style 50 hairs into a hip… Continue

Well...it has been quite awhile since Ive written on here. Lots of growth, and lots of self love since.
Last July 2nd, while in the midst of a week of overnight pet sitting gigs, being very sleep deprived, I went outside with nothing on my head. I usually wore a wig or a bandana or something. Very rarely went out with a bare head. As I was walking the dog I was caring for, I was thinking, okay, maybe no one will be out. As soon as I thought that, people started walking by or driving… Continue

Well, it wasn't. I wasn't supposed to lose my hair. I wasn't supposed to be so unhappy with the way my hair looks that at the age of 40 I have to buy a wig. I wasn't supposed to shave my head and have my friends let me down. Well, it happened. At the ripe old age of 40 I was forced to do something about my hair loss. So, I bought a wig. I like the wig, everybody likes the wig. It looks good on me, it looks natural. I am happy with the wig. However, what am I supposed to do around the house? How… Continue

Well I did it last night, I shave the rest of my hair off! I am done with it, that is all behind me. I don't have to worry about if my spots are covered, or see hair all over. I feel good right now. I thought it would be harder for me than it was, I didn't even cry, (yet!)

What a day I had yesterday...started off blue but turned into a day of laughing and fun. I have two dogs one is three and one is 4 monthes old. They are alot of fun and are more comfort to me that you know, for some reason they have a 6th sense and can always tell when I am down and out!! I have a great collection of scarves and hats that I keep in my room in a stand that has rows of baskets. I was getting ready for the day and out of the corner of my eye could see Piper my puppy slowly sneak… Continue
