I was reading the Jewish Chronicle the other day and there was an article about a man named: Philip Levine. Since going bald he decided to use his head as a canvas for art. I really like this idea! He has a couple of websites, so check them out:

Recently, a Redditor wrote Valve Software Company to inquire about the bald guy in the Valve logo pictured here. The Redditor got this really cool response from Ray Ueno:
I worked with Gabe and team to develop the "guy in the logo" back when we first named the company, Valve (circa 1995/6), and… Continue

So the last time I blogged I was 3 months pregnant and my hair had started to fall out again. Well it decided to do that wonderful thing that alopecia areata does and grow back and give me hope. At one point it actually started to get really full and thick and i had no spots. Then my little pumpkin was born (Hailey Darlene Burley-Heslop Oct 31st, 2010 thats why we call her our pumpkin 8lbs 13oz she was a big pumpkin lol) and then i noticed the back of my hair line started to creep up and up and… Continue

Last year I was diagnosed with a mixed Scarring Alopecia. Alopecia is just a fancy word for hair loss. This is an extremely rare condition. There are many different types of Alopecia (including male pattern baldness) and they are further categorized into scarring and non-scarring.
Without medication my symptoms are a bright red inflamed scalp, dry flaky lesions, prickly pear itching,, patchy areas of pustules that burst and drain. and areas of tenderness all over my scalp. It is… Continue

As we said goodbye he gave me a hug which normally never happens, but he did and told me "hang in… Continue

Yep, I'm a bald and I love it! I don't feel like I'm hiding some secret any longer. Well...with hairloss I wasn't really hiding anything, I was ignoring a problem that was right in front of my face in hopes that nobody would notice. Anyway, I digress. I am bald, I am happy about it. I still wear a wig to work and church. I am afraid that it would be career suicide at work, I work in management so I think I'll keep on wearing the wig there. At home I am a free bald bird. I haven't been "out" as… Continue

Well I just changed my profile pic on facebook. Bald, for all to see. Why? I was sitting here after a challenging phone call by my daughter thinking of the trauma she has lived through and is still going through and by association my hb and I as well when suddenly my hairloss didn't seem important anymore. Why am I hiding this? A lot of people I know know I'm bald. I gave a whole speech on it for god's sake to a crowd of people, some I associate with regularly. I outed myself publicly. So...… Continue

I sure wish there was something magical to make me happy, I feel as if there is no hope.
I couldn't get over how happy I was yesterday and BANG!! today I am completely opposite.
I wish they would find a cure for alopecia, just like they are trying for cancer patients, heart and stroke foundation why the hell isn't it for alopecia?? makes me so angry.
I found it so hard to even get out of bed in the mornings and night time is my favorite time of the day, cause im going to sleep an… Continue

Had a fantastic weekend this past Saturday night. One of my dear Friends is a musician and she was making her debut on Saturday at a dance in the city. A bunch of my BFF's and I went to support her and I must say she was fabulous...
I went all dressed up with one of my fabulous scarves on my head that I absolutely love. My BFF said to me that I should make my bald debut as well but couldn't gather up the courage...not yet. We all went out and had a fabulous time. I had a woman approach me… Continue

So I go out to dinner with my husband last night, after returning from a visit with my sister in New York. We go to our usual diner. I was wearing a cap which is like a conductors cap in that its short around my head, not like a baseball cap that covers you all the way.
The waitress that usually waits on us came up from my side and said "Good evening gentlemen", and I turned around and looked at her. I was wearing lipstick and I said "well, if I take my hat off you'll get to see what… Continue

Hey guys. Just curious on everyone's level of itching. My head itches like CRAZY when the hair falls out. normally skin itches when hair grows in right? Anyone know why?
I stopped going to the dermatologist after 4 rounds of injections. I felt it did more harm than good for me. I am not a fan of chemicals being blasted into my head and it didn't seem to make the hair grow back. but doctorless, I'm left with a ton of questions about this condition.

I have gotten to the point where I was frustrated with my hair. It was getting more and more difficult to hide my holes. My pony-tail was about half the size it once was. I would have cut my poor scraggly hair months ago but I wasn't sure what to do about it. So I decided to bite the bullet. On Wednesday I went wig shopping and found something that looks like me. Who knew red highlights were my thing^^; Then last night I had my hair cut really short. Now as my hair falls out it will be much… Continue
